On July 10, Subaru officially announced the Chinese name of the brand-new Subaru Crosstrek model, and the new car was named "Xubao."

As the replacement model of Subaru XV, the brand-new Subaru Crosstrek has been launched at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show. The car is positioned as a compact SUV. Three models have been launched in total. The power series is equipped with a 2.5-liter horizontally opposed naturally aspirated engine. The price range is 199,800 yuan-230,800 yuan. Among them, the price of elite EyeSight is 199,800 yuan, the price of luxury EyeSight is 215,800 yuan, and the price of flagship EyeSight is 230,800 yuan.

In terms of appearance, the new car is equipped with a brand-new family-style front grille, a brand-new mid-net design, a horizontal through-decoration strip inside, and a brand LOGO inlaid in the center. Both sides adopt the newly-shaped headlight group, and the black decorative parts in the fog lamp area form a similar "C"-shaped pattern, with high overall recognition.

On the side of the car body, the new car still adopts a compact body structure, the protruding front and rear wings on both sides advertise the sporty attributes, and the black fender reflects its cross-border identity. At the rear of the car, the taillights of the new car present a C-shape, and the size of the lower surround panel has been increased, equipped with diffuser trim, and the exhaust is hidden layout.

In terms of body size, the new Subaru Crosstrek has a length, width and height of 4495/1800/1600mm and a wheelbase of 2670 mm. For reference, the Subaru XV is 4495/1800/1615mm in length, width and height, and 2665mm in wheelbase.

In the interior, the new car also features a brand-new design, equipped with an 11.6-inch central control screen and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mobile connectivity. There are still some physical buttons for common functions below, and the new car will be equipped with the latest version of EyeSight driver assistance system.

In terms of power, the new Subaru Crosstrek is equipped with a 2.5-liter horizontally opposed naturally aspirated engine with a maximum power of 124 kW and a peak torque of 252 N·m. The transmission system is matched with a CVT continuously variable transmission and equipped with a full-time four-wheel drive system.

The industry believes that, on the one hand, Subaru itself is an imported brand, the sound volume in the domestic market is not high, and the recognition degree of domestic consumers is naturally not high; on the other hand, Subaru XV has many competitive products in China, and its living space is getting smaller and smaller under the crushing of Toyota and Honda brands. For Subaru, the launch of the new Subaru Crosstrek may inject new blood into its sales, but it is unlikely to change its poor domestic sales.
