August 8, Beijing Hyundai released the new Elantra official map. As a mid-term model, the appearance and interior design of the new Elantra will adopt a new design style, and the new car is expected to be officially launched at the 2023 Chengdu Auto Show. As a reference, the current Elantra guidance price is 9.98- 141,800 yuan.

In terms of appearance, the new Elantra will redesign the front face. The slender and sharp headlight group blends with the smoky black front grille, and the more low-lying front with the front surround air intake on both sides makes the overall shape of the new car more sporty.

On the side of the body, the new Elantra has a raised waistline and blackened roof, with a new sporty styling rim to create a sportier body posture. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4725/1810/1415mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2720 mm. Compared with the current model, the length increases by 45mm, and other data remain unchanged. At the rear, the new Elantra uses through-tail lights and adds chrome trim to the rear surround.

In terms of interior, compared with the current model, the overall layout of the new Elantra remains basically unchanged, the design of the double 10.25-inch screen is retained, and the style of the steering wheel has not changed. The whole center console still uses the through-type air conditioning outlet, and the key area at the lower part of the center screen creates a better key texture as a whole.

In terms of power, according to the declaration information, the new Elantra will continue to be equipped with 1.4T (maximum power 140kW, peak torque 211N·m) and 1.5L engine (maximum power 115kW, peak torque 144N·m), and the transmission system will be equipped with 7-speed dry dual-clutch gearbox.

At present, only Elantra, Tucson L and ix35 models support Beijing Hyundai sales. Data show that Beijing Hyundai sold 123259 vehicles in the first half of the year, among which the highest sales model was Elantra, 53661 vehicles, the other two models sold 22875 vehicles and 22592 vehicles respectively, and the other models were less than ten thousand vehicles.

Elantra's competitors mainly include Volkswagen Lavida, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Xuanyi and other compact joint venture cars. Compared with the above models, Elantra's market performance is relatively ordinary. For example, Nissan Xuanyi sold 158635 vehicles in the first half of the year. At the same time, autonomous models also began to encroach on this market, such as BYD's Qin PLUS, Chang 'an's Yida, Geely's Xingrui, market performance is also better than Elantra.

Hyundai Motor announced the sale of two factories in China on June 20, Nikkei News reported. It is currently going through the sale procedures for two discontinued factories. After the sale, Hyundai will have only two production plants left in China. In addition, Hyundai plans to cut sales in China from the current 13 models to eight due to a sharp drop in sales in the Chinese market over the past six years.

Hyundai Motor's China business has faced various negative factors in recent years, and Hyundai plans to carry out structural reforms-the remaining two factories will improve production efficiency and serve as export bases in emerging markets. Hyundai will sell eight models in China from the current 13, and plans to sell high-end models such as the "Zenith" centered in Shanghai. In addition, Hyundai will focus on high-performance models to boost its damaged brand image. According to the plan, Beijing Hyundai will realize the comprehensive hybrid of fuel vehicles in 2025, and build a hybrid product matrix of MPV, two cars and three SUV models in the next 3-5 years, so as to achieve the annual production and sales scale of 300,000 hybrid products.
