The MG Cyberster is the brand's first brand-new sports car since the MG F in 1995, and it is also MG's first all-electric two-door sports car. At the 2021 Beijing Auto Show, MG launched a 50 million crowdfunding program, which will determine whether MG Cyberster will be mass produced and users will submit "Mengjin" to participate in crowdfunding. It is understood that the crowdfunding program broke through the 50 million crowdfunding target after only 10 days of launch, confirming the final mass production of MG Cyberster.

At present, MG Cyberster has completed the declaration in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which means that MG Cyberster is qualified to be sold on the market, and the price of the new car may be announced at the 2023 Chengdu Auto Show.

In terms of appearance, the MG Cyberster is a Roadster sports car, and the front face uses a design concept called "Wind Hunter" to create a very exaggerated aerodynamic shape, and the front surrounded by two pieces of front lips is very radical. The slender chrome-plated strip on the front divides the front into two layers, and uses the classic round headlights of MG at the top, which makes the layering of the new car very unique.

On the side of the body, the new car adopts the scissors door structure common to the supercar, and the side is equipped with LED light belt, which looks very cool. In addition, the double-segment waistline also enhances the visual effect of the side fender, with a 7-spoke "hacker blade" central locking rim, which greatly improves the sports sense of the new car. In the rear part, the new car uses a three-dimensional through taillight design called "Red Wing", and the taillight, luminous LOGO and arrow turn signal all adopt an integrated embedded design. In terms of size, its length, width and height are 4535/1913/1329mm and its wheelbase is 2690mm, which is larger than that of the BMW Z4.

In terms of interior decoration, the overall design of the new car fully integrates the sense of sports and technology, there is no traditional central control screen, and the driver is surrounded by a triple LCD instrument in front of the driver. The steering wheel has a half-spoke flat-bottomed design, and the red seats make the whole interior look very fighting.

In terms of power, the new car will have a single-motor high-low power version and a dual-motor version, in which the single-motor version is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) for the rear axle, with a maximum power of 231 kW for the low-power version, a maximum power of 250 kW for the high-power version, and a PMSM with a maximum power of 150 kW for the front axle, and a maximum power of 250 kW for the rear axle. The battery capacity is 64kWh and 77kWh, respectively, and the corresponding mileage is 501km, 520km and 580km.

As a pure electric sports car, the current price of the MG Cyberster is unknown, the best result is to control it below 300000 yuan, or it may be recognized by more consumers, but it is also very difficult. Generally speaking, the market of about 200000 yuan is mainly for the purchase of family cars or SUV, and although pure electric sports cars look cool, they are hindered by many aspects, such as interior space, and are rarely considered by ordinary consumers. In other words, MG Cyberster is destined to become a "toy" for only some consumers.

Why does MG make convertibles? MG itself is a sports brand, launched the MG TF sports car, has an advanced mid-K engine and rear wheel drive system, combined with an independent rocker suspension system, while MG's MG Cyberster is more like a return to the essence, perhaps more or less important to it. Of course, the layout of MG in overseas markets is also very extensive. If the domestic market is difficult to develop, MG can also export MG Cyberster to overseas markets, and imported pure electric sports cars worth about 400000 yuan are also very fragrant in overseas markets.
