The new car was towed to a nearby Mercedes-Benz 4S store for overhaul. after the shop technician eliminated the fault, Miss Wang drove the car out of the 4S store and failed to turn the steering wheel twice again, claiming that she "never dared to drive this car again." Miss Wang asked the 4S store to return the car according to the three packages of laws and regulations, but all of them were refused. Mercedes-Benz 4S store insisted on the solution of changing the steering gear, which took more than two months.

On April 26, the after-sales person in charge of the Dongguan Yihua Mercedes-Benz 4S store said that the car was just steering without help and could not reach the definition of steering system failure, so it did not meet the standard of return and replacement.

It also provides a two-year extended warranty for the whole car, but the request for compensation for depreciation fee cannot be met by the 4S store.

The function of the vehicle steering system is to control the driving direction of the vehicle according to the wishes of the driver. Steering system failure not only cannot drive the car normally, but may also lead to serious consequences. therefore, the national automobile three-package policy clearly stipulates that "household automobile products within 60 days from the date of the seller's car purchase invoice or within 3000 kilometers, if the steering system fails, and the consumer chooses to replace the car or return the goods, the seller shall be responsible for replacing or returning the goods free of charge."

Since the national automobile three-package law supports consumers to return or change cars, why is it still difficult to achieve? In reality, 4S stores often replace parts plus send several maintenance programs to consumers, as long as consumers do not make trouble, unlimited procrastination is also a way.

Back to the root of the incident, the same Mercedes-Benz C-Class car, which is also a new car, is also a steering failure, and the cause of the failure is roughly the same, which has occurred many times in succession, making it difficult to simply attribute the failure phenomenon to an individual case.

It is worth noting that Beijing Mercedes-Benz recalled a number of sub-C-Class, E-Class and GLC vehicles in March this year, totaling 95694 vehicles, due to the hidden danger of steering gear failure. The reason is that the glue layer on the edge of the steering rack thrust parts of the above-mentioned vehicle steering gear is too thin to meet the durability requirements, which may cause the external metal ring to become loose and get stuck between the rack and the shell, resulting in a steering angle of less than 180 degrees on the affected side.
