According to Interface News, a person close to Xiaomi said that Xiaomi is now in trial production, which has been going on for less than a month. Xiaomi currently produces about 50 sample cars a week, with few night workers. According to people familiar with the matter, trial production is one of the most important tasks before mass production, which can test whether the equipment of the production line runs smoothly, the convergence of processes, the proficiency of workers, and a comprehensive test of product consistency. If the sample car has similar problems in the process of testing, it will further investigate and debug the production line, otherwise it will prove that the production line is basically qualified and can enter the stage of mass production.

At the end of last month, foreign media reported that Xiaomi had been qualified for the production of new energy vehicles. According to people familiar with the matter at the time, Xiaomi had received approval from China's state planning department to produce electric vehicles (EV), marking an important step towards the smartphone maker's goal of "producing cars early next year." In addition, the National Development and Reform Commission, which oversees new investment and production capacity in China's auto industry, approved Beijing-based Xiaomi to produce electric cars earlier this month. Xiaomi's joint venture is the fourth joint venture approved by the National Development and Reform Commission since the end of 2017. However, Xiaomi officials did not respond to the news.

But during the same period, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's ICP / IP address / domain name information filing management system showed that Xiaomi Motor completed the domain name filing of the "xiaomiev.com" website on Aug. 2, and the industry speculated that this might become the website address of Xiaomi Automobile's future official website.

Prior to this, the Beijing Engineering Construction tendering and bidding Trading system showed that the Beijing Yizhuang Xincheng Xiaomi Intelligent Manufacturing Industry Base Project (Phase I) supporting Huanjing Road (Xinnan District South Street-Xinsi Road) and municipal works (investigation) tender announcement was issued. The start-up of bidding for supporting roads indicates that the first phase of the Xiaomi plant project has entered the completion stage. At present, the general scope of the Xiaomi car factory reported by many media is Yizhuang in Beijing, Tongyi Road in the west, Huanjing West Road in the east, Jingsheng South fourth Street in the north and Yitong Street in the south.

Interface News said in its latest report that people close to Xiaomi said: "Xiaomi has received approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in the last two months, and it can be approved by the end of the year at the latest. As soon as you get the approval, you can immediately increase the horsepower to mass-produce Xiaomi cars." At present, Xiaomi Yizhuang factory is recruiting workshop workers on a large scale, but this round of recruitment is only in preparation for mass production, and Xiaomi will usher in a larger recruitment by the end of the year or early next year.

In addition, the Financial Associated Press also reported that unlike the "endless" which was still in the early stage of construction nearly a year and a half ago, the Xiaomi car factory has entered the stage of interior decoration and will soon be officially completed. At the same time, in order to reduce the cost of vehicle R & D and shorten the product R & D cycle, the construction project of Xiaomi Automobile R & D Experimental Verification Center has also been prepared.

According to the plan announced earlier by Xiaomi Automobile, the Xiaomi Automobile project will build Xiaomi Automobile headquarters, sales headquarters and R & D headquarters, and will build a vehicle factory with an annual production capacity of 300000 vehicles in two phases, of which the first and second phases will have a production capacity of 150000 vehicles respectively, and the first model will be offline and mass produced in 2024.

Earlier, Xiaomi's test car had been exposed online, when Xiaomi was being tested in Turpan, and senior executives such as Lei Jun and Lu Weibing also came to the scene to pay attention to Xiaomi's test results.

On Aug. 19, Lei Jun, founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Group, and Lu Weibing, partner and president of Xiaomi Group, all participated in Xiaomi car road test in Xinjiang. Hu Zhengnan, investment partner of Shunwei Capital, revealed Xiaomi's energy consumption on his social media.

In addition, Xiaomi insiders revealed that this year, Xiaomi car at this stage of the first-and second-level battery suppliers have finalized China New Airlines (formerly known as Zhongchuang Lithium) and Ningde era. Xiaomi insiders say Xiaomi has made it clear that it will focus on software rather than hardware as its main profit strategy. In order to maintain Xiaomi's consistent cost-effective advantage, Xiaomi's parts profit margin will be maintained at about 1%, and future profits will mainly depend on software services and ecological services.

As the Xiaomi car plant is about to start production, the first Xiaomi car will soon enter the stage of formal mass production. In fact, ever since Xiaomi entered the auto circle, whether Xiaomi can build a car has been questioned. Lei Jun also said in an interview with CCTV that he did not want to build a car and even had the idea of retiring. But if Xiaomi wants to be a great company, it must follow the wind.
