The new Volkswagen Tiguan was officially unveiled at the Volkswagen Night of the 2023 Munich Auto Show in Germany. As a reference, the Volkswagen Tiguan was previously sold in China as an import, with the 2019 Tiguan priced in the range of 23.98-350800 yuan, while the SAIC-Volkswagen Tuguan L corresponds to the Tiguan Allspace, which currently ranges from 19.90 to 260800 yuan.

In terms of appearance, the new Volkswagen Tiguan adopts a new family design style. The headlights on both sides are irregularly designed like golf, and the center is connected by a black panel + light belt, but the brand LOGO is still not like ID. The family products are lit up as well. The lower enclosure is designed with a wide grille and vents on both sides, which can provide better heat dissipation for the front wheel.

On the side of the body, the overall shape of the new car is still relatively round and thick, and the segmented waistline design shows muscle lines. In the rear part, the taillight group adopts the popular penetrating design, and the front and rear surround the bottom and the side skirt are decorated with black elements to enhance the visual center of gravity and give the new car a certain degree of wildness.

In terms of interior decoration, the new Volkswagen Tiguan has also been adjusted in all aspects, which is equipped with a 10.25inch full liquid crystal meter and a HUD look-up display, and at the same time it is replaced with a 15-inch suspended central control screen, with the latest multimedia system integrated inside, the touch physical keys are retained below, and the driving experience is controlled on the center console. Through the independent screen on the knob, the user can choose the driving mode and adjust the volume or atmosphere lamp color. A lot of storage space is also designed in the area. In terms of power, the new Volkswagen Tiguan is based on the MQB Evo platform and will be available in gasoline, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions, and the drivetrain will only provide DSG gearboxes. It is worth mentioning that this is likely to be the last generation of fuel Tiguan, which may become an all-electric model in the future, just like the GTI. As for the domestic version, the Volkswagen Tuguan L currently carries 1.4T, 1.5T and 2.0T engines and matches the 7-speed wet double clutch gearbox. It is expected that the new Tuguan L will not change much in the power system.

It is understood that Volkswagen Tiguan was born in 2007, built on the same PQ35 platform of golf, and became popular all over the world as soon as it was launched. Since then, Volkswagen Tiguan entered the Chinese market as an import in 2009, with a price of up to 385000 yuan that year. In 2010, SAIC-Volkswagen officially made a domestic Tiguan and named Tuguan, with a price range of 199000 yuan, a larger wheelbase and a cheaper price, making it one of the most popular joint venture models in the market.

In 2017, the new Tuguan launched, based on the MQB platform, the wheelbase was further extended, upgrading from a compact SUV to a medium-sized SUV, and renamed Tuguan L, this generation of models have been sold for six years. Retail data show that Tuguan L sold a total of 90960 vehicles from January to August 2023.

Generally speaking, the new Tuguan L is expected to be put on the market in China next year, and the exterior and interior decoration basically continues the overseas model design, and the power system is not expected to change much, but it may be the last generation of models equipped with fuel engines. Whether the body size will be further lengthened, there is no accurate news at present. According to the spy photos of the new car, it is expected that the whole vehicle size of the new Tuguan L will not change much. As for whether the new Tuguan L can continue the glory of the previous two generations, it remains to be seen.
