In terms of appearance, the new EC6 changed to the latest family design style, eliminating the silver chrome plating embedded in the front face and turning it into a shark nose closed front face with more curved surfaces and broken lines, but compared with other models with the same latest family design, the new EC6's daylight shape is slightly different, using split design.

The new EC6 continues to use a slip-back style and uses the same pure flat side window design as the new ES8 and the new ES6, with privacy glass in the back row. The rear part of the car, the new EC6 design is basically consistent with the ES7, using the popular through-type LED taillights, the internal light group is composed of 286 LED light sources, while the high brake lights are hidden design. The new EC6 also features an active tail that can be opened in two stages, with a raised design on both sides and a slightly raised tail door. In addition, the original external rear wiper also disappeared and was hidden in the top spoiler. In terms of size, the new EC6 length, width and height are 4849/1995/1697mm, wheelbase 2915mm.

In terms of interior decoration, the new EC6 is basically the same as EC7, with a 12.8-inch AMOLED central control screen and a 10.2-inch HDR digital meter. The interior is divided into two parts, the upper part is mainly carried by technology, such as the screen, dashboard, steering wheel, the lower part is to better create a sense of atmosphere. The new EC6 continues to use an integrated sports seat, the main driving seat supports 16-way electric adjustment, the auxiliary seat supports 18-way electric adjustment, and the back seat supports 8-degree front and rear electric adjustment. In addition, it is also equipped with the second generation "Queen's copilot", and the front visor of the copilot is also equipped with a large cosmetic mirror.

In terms of power, the new EC6 will adopt a combination of front AC asynchronous motor and rear silicon carbide permanent magnet synchronous motor, with a comprehensive output power of 360kW, a comprehensive torque of 700Nm and a maximum acceleration time of 4.23s (driver + equipment only). In terms of battery life, the new EC6 still offers two battery options: 75kWh and 100kWh, with a range of 495km and 630km respectively under CLTC conditions.

The EC6 is the third production car launched by Xilai after the ES8 and ES6. It was released on 2019 NIO Day and the price was announced in July 2020. The main competitor is Tesla Model Y. However, as a sedan car, the sales of the EC6 are not high, and there is a big gap compared with the Tesla Model Y. In 2022, Xilai EC6 delivered 17076 vehicles for the whole year, while Model Y delivered 315314.

With the mass production and listing of the new EC6, Ulai has completed all the product switching based on the second-generation technology platform. After the full launch of the eight second-generation models, it will be able to cover 80% of the users' needs in the high-end market. Li Bin said, "our goal is to stabilize monthly sales at more than 20,000 units," but this is not the ultimate goal.
