GAC MOTOR's medium-and large-sized SUV-- Chuanqi ES9 officially opened its pre-sale on October 1, with a total of four models: ES9 PHEV Pro, ES9 PHEV MAX, ES9 PHEV Traveler Pro and ES9 PHEV Traveler MAX, with a pre-price range of 22.98-269800 yuan.

The new car is the second product of Chuanqi Zhidian New Energy E series after Chuanqi E9. It can be regarded as the plug-in version of GS8/GS8 traveler. The power is equipped with 2.0T+2 block DHT plug-in hybrid system, and the CLTC comprehensive mileage can reach 1215 km.

In terms of appearance, the new car provides two different styles of front face design, one is the continuation of GS8 design style, partial city type SUV, the front face adopts large-size grille design, the interior is embellished with straight waterfall black element trim, and is connected with the headlights on both sides, with rough front surround, which has great visual impact. The other is the use of hard style, and named ES9 traveler, the overall bias towards the outdoor, the front face with a new design, sturdy chrome grille engraved with the "GAC" brand LOGO, with a strong degree of identification.

On the side of the body, the outline of the new car is square, and the tough lines are the same as Chuanqi GS8, but the new car is more domineering. In terms of size, new cars vary slightly depending on the version of the model. Among them, the length, width and height of the ordinary version of the model are respectively 5015, 1950 and 1780mm; the Traveler version is 5110/1976/1780mm, the wheelbase is 2920mm, the positioning is medium and large SUV, and the standard is 255x50 R20 tyres.

In the rear part, the hardline Chuanqi ES9 traveler uses a small schoolbag design style and embellishes silver decorative strips in the details. The new car license plate is moved down to the bumper, and the bumper is also redesigned, which has a very high similarity with the shape and design style of the front enclosure, which forms a good echo effect as a whole.

In the interior part, the overall layout design of the new car is the same as that of Chuanqi GS8, which is covered with a large area of soft material, equipped with a 14.6in central control screen and a 12.3inch full LCD instrument, equipped with a new generation of ADiGO 4.0s connected ecosystem and built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. In addition, the new car will be equipped with a 30-inch AR-HUD and a three-spoke multi-purpose steering wheel. In terms of seat layout, the new car adopts the space layout of 6 + 7 seats.

In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of a 2.0T engine and a motor, of which the 2.0T engine has a maximum power of 140kW and a peak torque of 330Nm, the maximum power of the motor is 110kW, the capacity of the ternary lithium battery pack is 25.57kWh, and the pure electric life of the CLTC is 143km.

Considering the pre-sale price and positioning of the new car, the new car will compete with M7, Lecker 08, ideal L8 and other models after its launch.

At the 2016 Beijing Auto Show, GAC MOTOR launched the Chuanqi GS8, the flagship model of GAC MOTOR, which became popular all over the country as soon as it was launched. According to the data, GAC MOTOR sold 102214 GS8 in 2017, 61773 in 2018, 28096 in 2019 and 19694 in 2020.

In December 2021, the second generation Chuanqi GS8 was launched, when the new car launched a total of five models, the fuel version and the hybrid version. The pre-price of the fuel version was 18.88-206800 yuan, and the hybrid version was 22.88-246800 yuan. The new car is adjusted for appearance, size and power, and market competitors include Red Flag HS5, WEY Mocha, Changan UNI-K and other models, but with more and more homogenized products in the SUV market and intensified market competition, Chuanqi GS8 sales have also begun to decline. Data show that Chuanqi GS8 sold 53963 vehicles in 2022, compared with 21697 from January to August this year.

After entering 2023, GAC began to promote Qilang mixing system on a large scale, and launched Chuanqi's "E series" model, which is divided into two camps: SUV and MPV, in which the SUV camp is named "ES". The first E series SUV model equipped with Chuanqi self-research and mixing technology is the above-mentioned ES9, which can be regarded as a mixed version of GS8/GS8 travelers.

On May 21 this year, Chuanqi E9 was officially put on the market. At present, there are 4 models in the whole department, with a price range of 32.98-389800 yuan. The car is the pioneer of Chuanqi E series, positioning medium-sized MPV and providing two design styles. The power is equipped with a plug-in system composed of GAC MOTOR self-developed 2.0TM hybrid special engine and motor, which integrates maximum power 274kW and maximum torque 630N ·m. Battery capacity 25.57kWhint CLTC mode pure electric battery life 136km, comprehensive battery life 1032km. Data show that since the launch of the car, the cumulative sales in August is 8641, of which 1842 in August, the performance is mediocre.

On the same day that the new car was pre-sold, GAC MOTOR released October sales data. Data show that GAC MOTOR sold 37286 vehicles in September, of which 2534 were sold by Chuanqi E9 and 16044 by the MPV family. With the pre-sale of Chuanqi ES9, it is expected that the new car will be on the market soon. It should be noted that the current hybrid SUV market of 20-300000 yuan is already quite popular.
