AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)10/02 Report--
According to the recall announcement issued by the defective Product Management Center of the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, a total of 11 batches of recall notices were issued in September 2023, recalling a total of 1.2069 million defective vehicles, an increase of 599.86% over the same period last year and a new high since February 2022. In addition, according to relevant statistics, 1.8837 million vehicles were recalled in the third quarter, an increase of 196.98% over the same period last year, and 4.3936 million vehicles were recalled in the first three quarters, an increase of 38.15% over the same period last year.
It is understood that Dongfeng Nissan, the automaker with the largest recalls in September and even in the third quarter, involved three best-selling models, Qijun, Xiaoke and Teana, accounting for 98.43 per cent of the total recall. Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. filed a recall measure with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration on September 7, announcing that from December 30, 2023, recall some of the Dongfeng Nissan brands Qijun, Xinxiaoka and the seventh generation Teana cars produced from July 23, 2018 to September 26, 2021, a total of 1188020 vehicles. It is understood that this recall was carried out under the circumstances that the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration initiated a defect investigation, and the recall was due to lax sealing of the engine exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR valve), which in extreme cases may cause low-speed flameout and power interruption, therefore Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. decided to replace the improved EGR valve for the vehicles within the recall scope free of charge to eliminate hidden dangers.
Fuel pump defects broke out again on a large scale. Since August, SAIC-Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz have all announced recalls because of fuel pump defects. The recall of Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. includes 90280 imported C-Class, E-Class, G-Class, S-Class, CLS, AMG GT, GLC SUV, GLE SUV and GLS SUV vehicles. Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. recalled a total of 120088 domestic C-Class, E-Class and GLC SUV cars, while Fujian Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. recalled a total of 20881 domestic V-Class and Weiting cars.
With the popularity of the new energy vehicle market, the defects of new energy vehicle products are becoming more and more prominent, especially under the background of the rapid development of automobile intelligence, the vehicle recall fault begins to extend from the traditional hardware fault to the system program and software design problem. Of course, compared with Dongfeng Nissan's recall of nearly 1.2 million vehicles, the number of recalls of new energy vehicles is nothing at all.
It is understood that as many as 16 new energy vehicles were recalled in the third quarter, including Toyota bZ3/ Wellanda High performance Edition (PHEV) / RAV4 Rongfang dual engine E+, Chery eQ1, Mercedes-Benz EQS, etc., from import to joint venture, independent, from pure electricity to mixing, from low-cost mini electric vehicles to luxury large electric vehicles.
New energy vehicle recall defects are also varied, such as Chery eQ1 due to battery system software strategy problems, after long-term frequent fast charging or long-term parking, the pressure difference inside the power battery gradually increases, the pressure difference exceeds the design value may lead to vehicle power limit driving, in extreme cases may occur high-voltage power, the vehicle loss of power, there are safety risks and recall. For example, Jaguar I-PACE is recalled because the high-pressure coolant heater of the cabin heating system may not work properly, resulting in the failure of vehicle warm air conditioning, the front windshield can not be defrosted, affecting the driver's line of sight and safety risks.
As new energy vehicles have gradually become the mainstream models in the car market, the number of recalls is also increasing. In the first half of the year, mainstream new energy vehicle brands, including Tesla and Xilai, were on the list. In addition, some pure electric models were recalled, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Toyota, Volvo, Genisse and other brands. The era of intelligent electric vehicles is coming, which is bound to be followed by the outbreak of more auxiliary driving and other software-related failures. How to prevent it and further protect the safety rights and interests of consumers is particularly important.
