The Kia EV9 made its debut at the 2023 Geneva Motor Show in Qatar. The new car is based on E-GMP pure electric platform, positioning medium and large pure electric SUV, and is expected to be introduced into the domestic market in 2024. In terms of appearance, the new car highly restores the concept car design style, and the overall shape is relatively simple and tough. The front face adopts the popular closed grille design of new energy models, with special-shaped headlights on both sides with matrix light source, the visual effect has a great sense of the future, the top of the hood is the brand LOGO, and the top of the grille is suspected to be equipped with ventilation design, which may provide some help for heat dissipation and wind resistance.

On the side of the body, the shape of the new car is more square, with soft curves and sharp lines on the side, and a dynamic waistline extends upward to the C column. The new car is also equipped with the popular hidden door handle, the traditional rearview mirror replaces the concept car's electronic rearview mirror, and the large-size two-tone wheels make the car feel more muscular.

In the rear part, the new car taillights also adopt a similar design style of headlights, and the bright black roof shark fin antenna combined with roof spoiler assembly makes the whole car more distinctive.

In the interior part, the new car is equipped with 12.3-inch LCD instrument and 12.3-inch LCD central control integrated suspension screen, and the steering wheel is similar to Audi's four-spoke multi-function steering wheel. In the seat layout, the new car adopts 2x2 + 2 six-seat layout design and simultaneously launches seven-seater models for consumers to choose and buy.

In terms of power, the new car will offer two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive models with a maximum power of 200,400 horsepower, a maximum torque of 339 million 651 Nm, and a range of 354-467km.

In March this year, Kia unveiled China's new energy strategy. Less than half a year later, Kia unveiled two new pure trams. At the 2023 Chengdu Auto Show in August, Kia brought two pure electric models, the EV5 and EV6. Among them, the Kia EV6, which locates the high-energy pure electric sedan, went on sale at the auto show at the same time, with a price range of 28.28-419800 yuan.

Another model, Kia EV5, also opened for pre-sale at the Chengdu Auto Show, with a pre-sale price range of 159800-229800 yuan. the car is located in a pure electric medium-sized SUV and is the first domestic pure electric SUV in China. The power is equipped with a single front motor with a maximum power of 160kW and a maximum torque of 310Nm. The new car is expected to go on sale in November.

According to the plan, Kia's global sales target for 2030 is 4.3 million vehicles, of which 1.6 million are pure electric models. In the Chinese market, Kia will launch at least one pure electric vehicle a year based on the electrified global modular platform E-GMP from 2023; by 2027, it will launch a total of six EV models; and by 2030, it will achieve its target of annual sales of 180000 EV models, accounting for 40 per cent of sales. As for whether the launch of more new cars can help Kia boost sales in the domestic market, it will take more time and the market to verify.
