On October 20, Toyota officially released the new Lande Cool Luze pure electric version of the concept car official map, the new car was named Landcool Luze Se. It is understood that this is Toyota's first pure electric Lande Cool Luze, and the new car will debut at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show.

Judging from the pictures of the appearance of the new car, the design style of the new car is very different from that of the current fuel version, which is more rugged, while the new car is more refined.

The appearance of the new car adopts a new design style, and the simple straight-line design looks very avant-garde and has a great sense of the future. Specifically, the front face of the new car uses a closed grille design, with matrix light groups on both sides and the brand LOGO letter logo inlaid in the center. The design around the front of the new car is also very chic, full of three-dimensional sense at the same time there is no lack of sports.

On the side of the body, the new car looks angular with a straight waistline and a suspended roof. In addition, the new car is also designed with electronic rearview mirrors and hidden door handles, and there is a strong waistline at the door, which is suspected to have a frameless design, further emphasizing the future of the new car. The eyebrows of the wheels extend outward, and the large rims are very moving. In terms of size, the new car will be 5150mm in length and 3050mm in wheelbase, but Toyota did not provide detailed parameters for the car and is expected to have a three-row and seven-seat layout inside.

The rear part of the car, the rear shape of the new car is also more full, using through-type taillight design, echoing with the front face. The rear enclosure also has a three-dimensional sense, while the spoiler design at the top of the window shows an avant-garde style.

Lande Cool Luze began to be listed in China in 2005. although it comes from FAW Toyota, unlike other domestic joint venture models, Lande Cool Luze, as the highest-end model produced by Toyota in China, is actually assembled in the way of SKD. After all, Lande Cool Luze represents the pinnacle of Toyota's off-road vehicle attainments and has a lot of core technology.

In December 2007, the new generation of Lande Cool Luze, code-named LC200, was listed domestically. Affected by the "advertising storm", the Chinese name of the new car changed from "Land Cruiser" to "Lande Cool Luze". The power is equipped with 4.7L V8 and 4.0L V6 engines, with an official guiding price of 655000 yuan. Since 2012, FAW Toyota has upgraded its power system for Lande Cool Luze. The brand new 4.6L V8 engine has replaced 4.7L V8 engine. However, due to the relatively high price of the car, its domestic sales are not good. Coupled with policy factors, the East Factory of FAW Toyota Changchun plant finally closed in 2016, announcing that Lande Cool Luze officially stopped production in China. In the next few years, the Rand Cool Luze on sale in China are parallel imported models.

The Lande Cool concept car map is a pure electric model, and it is also the first pure electric Lande Cool in Toyota history. Compared with the fuel version, the new car will be biased towards the positioning of urbanized SUV. It should be noted that at present, the car market is in the process of "accelerating the electrification of layout", and it is well known that Toyota has always disliked electrification, so it has been stagnant in electrification. The layout of pure electric vehicles is very slow, and the living space of traditional fuel vehicles has been further compressed, which has also led to a decline in Toyota sales in the Chinese market.

Up to now, Toyota has two pure electric models, the bZ4X and the bZ3, in the Chinese market, but Toyota does not have a high sense of presence in the electric car market. GAC retail data show that from January to September 2023, GAC-Toyota sold 5595 bZ4X vehicles, FAW-Toyota bZ4X sold 6783 vehicles, and FAW-Toyota bZ3 sold 18674 vehicles.

Obviously, Toyota also wants to build electric cars, but the current sales situation is not optimistic. As for whether there is a market after Lande Cool Luze electrification, it is not clear, but the industry believes that Toyota is currently in a difficult transition stage and major reforms are unlikely in the future.

In April, Toyota President Henoji Sato unveiled a new electric strategy. Toyota and Lexus will launch 10 new electric vehicles and a new pure electric platform in the next three years, in order to reach the sales target of 1.5 million electric vehicles by 2026. Among them, Toyota plans to launch two pure electric vehicles developed in China next year and triple its 2024 target by 2025, with a target of 190000 electric vehicles by 2024. In addition, earlier media reports said Toyota had informed major parts suppliers that it planned to increase production of Toyota and Lexus-branded electric vehicles to 600000 by 2025.
