In the latest issue of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology declaration catalogue, Automotive Industry concern obtained the declaration chart of SAIC-Volkswagen's brand new pure electric car-ID.7 S, which is a mass-production version of the ID.NEXT concept car, first unveiled at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show, sister models with FAW-Volkswagen ID.7 VIZZION, and is expected to be unveiled at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show and listed in the first half of the year. As a reference, FAW-Volkswagen ID.7 VIZZION has been listed with a price range of 22.7777-262777 yuan.

In terms of appearance, the overall design of the ID.7 S front face is slightly different from that of the sister model ID.7 VIZZION, which basically continues the design style of the ID.NEXT concept car. The headlight group is connected by penetrating LED daytime driving lights + luminous Volkswagen LOGO to form a penetrating design, the front enclosure uses a similar three-stage design, and triangular guide grooves are integrated on both sides of the trapezoidal vents with a certain degree of recognition.

Due to the hatchback rear design, the rear windshield almost extends to the rear, coupled with a higher window line, the thick and short parking space looks very stocky. In the rear part of the car, the new car is designed with a penetrating taillight group, and the LOGO can also be lit, and the rear "ID.7" and "S" indicate identity information.

In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 5026/1864/1537mm and wheelbase 2966mm respectively. As a comparison, the length, width and height of FAW-Volkswagen ID.7 VIZZION are 4956/1862/1537mm and the wheelbase is 2965mm, while the length of ID.7 S is longer, but other data are consistent.

In terms of power, according to the declaration information, SAIC-Volkswagen ID.7 S will be equipped with a motor with a maximum power of 170kW. As a reference, FAW-Volkswagen ID.7 VIZZION offers optional rear-drive and four-wheel-drive models with a maximum power of 150kW and a front and rear dual-motor system with a maximum power of 80kW for the front motor and 150kW for the rear motor.

As a global model, the ID.7 was first mass-produced by FAW-Volkswagen and named "ID.7 VIZZION". At the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show, SAIC-Volkswagen unveiled the ID.7 NEXT concept car for the first time, and the ID.7 S is the mass production version of ID.7 NEXT, which can be understood as the sister car of ID.7 VIZZION, which will be launched in the first half of the year.

As a medium-sized pure electric sedan, SAIC-Volkswagen ID.7 S mainly competes with Tesla Model 3 (25.99-297400 yuan), Xiaopeng P7i (20.99-339900 yuan) and BYD Han EV (19.98-279800 yuan). Retail data show that Tesla Model 3 is the top seller in the pure electric medium-sized car market, with cumulative sales of 147000 vehicles in 2023, 45000 units of Xiaopeng P7i and 106000 BYD EV of positioning medium and large sedans. Of course, potential competitors also include the sister model ID.7 VIZZION.

After SAIC Volkswagen ID.7 S is listed, it will become ID. The fourth model of the family has been launched, including ID.3, ID.4 X and ID.6 X. Retail data show that Volkswagen sold 75700 ID.3, 24200 ID.4 X and 6243 ID.6 X in 2023. These models were heavily subsidized in 2023, especially the ID.3, making them sell more electric vehicles than other joint venture brands. In terms of price, with reference to the price of FAW-Volkswagen ID.7 VIZZION, it is estimated that SAIC-Volkswagen ID.7 S should start at 200000 yuan.

In addition to the ID.7 S, SAIC-Volkswagen will launch a new Tuguan L, a new Passat, a new Polo and a compact SUV in 2024. In 2023, SAIC-Volkswagen sold 1.231 million vehicles, down 1.0% from the same period last year, ranking fifth among domestic automakers, for BYD, FAW-Volkswagen, Geely and Changan.
