AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/03 Report--

Recently, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Tesla is recalling nearly 2.2 million vehicles in the United States because the fonts of brake, parking and anti-lock brake warning lights on the vehicle dashboard are smaller than the requirements of federal safety standards, or making important safety information difficult for drivers to find, increasing the risk of vehicle collisions.

The recall covers Model S models from 2012 to 2023, Model X models from 2016 to 2023, Model 3 models from 2017 to 2023, Model Y models from 2019 to 2024 and Cybertruck models from 2024. Officials say the problem will be resolved by online software updates for recalled vehicles.

This time, the problem was identified during a routine safety compliance review on January 8, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Tesla currently confirms that there are three warranty claims that may be related to the issue, but there are no reports of collisions or casualties.

It is worth noting that in the past three months, Tesla has been recalled many times in the United States. At the end of last month, due to a problem with the image display of the rearview camera, there was no way to provide drivers with the necessary rear view, increasing the risk of driving safety. Tesla recalled 199575 vehicles in the United States, including 2023 Model S, Model X and Model Y models. Officials say OTA software updates will be released to address the problem.

On December 13 last year, there was a safety risk due to being equipped with FSD Beta fully autopilot software or there was no way to ensure that drivers would still pay enough attention when the system started autopilot. Tesla recalled more than 2.03 million vehicles in the United States, including the 2012-2023 Model S, 2016-2023 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3 and 2020-2023 Model Y. Similarly, Tesla also solves this problem by remote software updates to the equipment through OTA. Not long after the recall, on December 24, 2023, the side door of the vehicle may be unlocked in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of injury to passengers. Tesla again announced a recall of 120423 vehicles in the United States, including the 2021-2023 Model S and X models, and officials said they would remotely OTA for free software updates.

In fact, Tesla recently had a large-scale recall in the US market as well as a large-scale recall in the Chinese market.

Tesla announced a recall of more than 1.6 million vehicles in the Chinese market on the same day due to problems with door unlocking logic control and driving aids, according to the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration on January 5. The models involved are some imported Model S and Model X electric vehicles from October 26, 2022 to November 16, 2023, and some imported Model S, Model X, Model 3 and domestic Model 3, Model Y electric vehicles from August 26, 2014 to December 20, 2023. Officials say they will upgrade software or push newly developed features free of charge for vehicles covered by the recall through car remote upgrade (OTA) technology.

Tesla's recent frequent recalls have also triggered a lot of heated discussion among netizens. Some netizens said that compared with the traditional recall, it is very convenient and convenient to upgrade without going to the store, and this kind of recall is equivalent to an upgrade, which further improves the safety of the vehicle and is acceptable. However, some netizens said that with the rapid intelligent development of new energy vehicles, models are more dependent on the engine system than traditional fuel models, and once there are problems, the impact on the function of the vehicle is more obvious.

Tesla, the Chinese official also responded to the recall a few days ago: an active recall is a very meaningful thing, a stringent requirement of enterprises on their own products, and a responsible attitude. With the innovation of technology, recall through OTA is not like in the past, consumers need to go to the store to replace parts, just need to upgrade the software remotely, which is more convenient. This innovative approach can help car companies to better improve product safety, after all, the pursuit of safety is never-ending.
