In July 2023, foreign media reported that the Lamborghini internal combustion engine model had been sold out before the end of production and was in transition to a pure hybrid lineup. At that time, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said that the Lamborghini Hurac á n and Urus fuel models were fully booked, marking the end of the company's internal combustion engine production. By 2024 and 2025, Lamborghini's fuel models will be replaced by plug-in hybrids, and the latest plug-in hybrid model, the Revuelto, will be sold out by the end of 2025.

Earlier, Lamborghini revealed that Hurac á n will launch a plug-in hybrid model by the end of 2024, while Urus plans to switch to a plug-in hybrid system in the first half of 2024. This year, the car will eliminate the powertrain of the fuel V8 engine and use the V8 engine with a plug-in hybrid system, which is also the second PHEV after the Lamborghini Revuelto.

As a supercar maker, Lamborghini has long had a layout for electrification. As early as October 2022, the classic supercar Aventador with a V12 self-aspirated engine was officially discontinued. Lamborghini said that with the order sale of the last Lamborghini Aventador model, Lamborghini's pure fuel era will come to an end, and Lamborghini will gradually shift to electric in the future.

In May last year, Lamborghini Revuelto announced the price in the Chinese market for 6.294994 million yuan. As the successor of Aventador, Lamborghini will become a new generation of flagship sports car under Lamborghini. In addition to the family design and wedge-shaped body, the new car also uses the plug-in hybrid power system of V12 + motor for the first time, with a comprehensive power of 1015 horsepower.

According to the plan, Lamborghini will hybrid all its product lines by the end of 2024, of which the Lamborghini Urus PHEV will be launched in the second half of 2024; Huracan's successor will also use plug-in hybrid power, which may consist of a V8 twin-turbocharged engine and motor. The first all-electric car will be launched in 2028, and its concept car, the Lanzador, was unveiled last year and is positioned as a 2x2 Grand Tourer sports car, which complements Lamborghini's current product line and will compete with the Porsche 911 electric version in the future. Lamborghini's first all-electric super SUV will also be launched in 2029.

According to the data, Lamborghini sales in the world exceeded 10,000 in 2023, up 9.91% from a year earlier to 10100, with Europe, the Middle East and Africa delivering the largest number of new cars, while the Chinese market experienced a double-digit year-on-year decline of 845 vehicles, down 16.99% from a year earlier.

For the current Lamborghini, how to get through the era of electrification transformation smoothly is an urgent problem to be solved. Lamborghini's chief executive has said that Lamborghini will increase its investment plan to at least 1.8 billion euros from 1.5 billion euros, the largest investment plan in Lamborghini's history. As for why to invest heavily, the chief executive said Lamborghini must face an all-electric era while maintaining the value of its brand, and hybrid is the first step towards electrification in the future.

According to the product planning of Lamborghini in the new year, Lamborghini will develop the new energy market in the future, and the short-term goal is to launch hybrid SUV models this year.
