In 2012, Zhidou's first electric car was officially launched, but it could not be sold at home without production qualifications, so it could only be sold overseas. Zhidou Motors cooperated with Zhongtai Motors and borrowed production qualifications to produce the first passenger car, but it finally fell apart for various reasons. In 2015, Zhidou Motor Co-operated with Geely Holdings to obtain production qualification, with sales of 25000, 24000 and 43000 vehicles respectively between 2015 and 2017. By 2017, it will get the "double qualification" certification that many new car manufacturing enterprises dream of. However, Zhidou Motors' good luck did not last long. After the decline of new energy subsidies in 2018, sales plummeted, and the decline in sales eventually triggered an operating crisis. Zhidou Motors successively fell into the storm of layoffs and unpaid wages. A number of enterprises in the upper and lower reaches of the industry were widely affected and finally embarked on the road of bankruptcy reorganization in 2019.
It is understood that after the bankruptcy restructuring, Zhidou still focuses on the mini-car market. The first new car, Zhidou Rainbow, will be released in April. The model has been declared in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the manufacturer is Lanzhou Zhidou Electric vehicle Co., Ltd. The declaration information shows that Zhi Dou Rainbow adopts a two-door four-seat design and is located in a pure electric minicar with a length, width and height of 3224/1515/1630mm and a wheelbase of 2100mm. In terms of power, Zhi Dou Rainbow will provide optional motors with a maximum power of 20 kilowatts and 30 kilowatts, matching lithium iron phosphate batteries from Guoxuan Tech. In terms of competitive products, Zhi Dou Rainbow's competitors include Wuling Hongguang MINIEV, Changan Lumin, Geely Panda, Chery QQ ice cream, etc., with a starting price of about 30, 000 yuan.
As the controlling shareholder of Zhidou, Geely's strategic support value and significance to Zhidou is omni-directional, and it will benefit from the strategic planning and deployment, R & D, manufacturing, supply chain coordination and risk control of Zhidou. And Emma is the leading enterprise of electric two-wheeler, which is also of great significance to the development of Zhidou. With the market scale of selling tens of millions of vehicles a year, Emma can help Zhidou reduce procurement costs, and 30,000 stores will also play a positive role in the layout of Zhidou's follow-up channels.
But the new energy market in 2024 is no longer that simple. Driven by the consumption trend, the mini electric vehicle market has indeed ushered in the sunshine that has not been seen for a long time, and the brand-new wave led by Wuling, Changan, Geely and Chery has led to the emergence of imitators one after another. however, after 2024, the new energy vehicle purchase tax policy has been greatly adjusted, so that most of the mini cars do not meet the requirements of the new announcement, and these models may raise prices in 2024 or directly cut the low-life version. Even these models may be extinct. At the same time, with the intensification of market competition in 2024, BYD was the first to start a price reduction after the Spring Festival of the year of the Dragon, and the life of minicars is no longer as easy as it used to be.
