In terms of appearance, the new generation of Passat uses the latest family design language of the Volkswagen brand, which largely draws on the design language of the "ID" family. The new model also offers two modeling options, both of which use upper and lower split grille design, the main difference lies in the lower air intake shape. Among them, the fuel version uses a large-size three-stage air inlet design, and adds dense stripes to adorn the interior to enhance the sense of refinement, while the R-Line version adopts the through-type air inlet design and adds black mesh elements inside, with silver kits on both sides to enhance the sense of movement.

On the side of the car body, the overall outline of the new Passat is not much different from that of the current Passat. The rear part of the car adopts the new styling through-type taillight design, and the internal irregular square lamp group looks full of science and technology. The new car is equipped with a small spoiler and a penetrating decorative strip is used around the rear. Combined with the rear logo, the car may be named "Passat pro", while combined with Tuguan L PRO, it does not rule out that the new generation of Passat also adopts the strategy of selling both new and old ones.

In terms of size, the new generation of Passat length, width and height is 5006/1850/1489mm, and the wheelbase is 2871mm. In terms of power, unlike the current model, the new Passat has been declared to include 1.5T engine and 2.0T engine version, with a maximum power of 118 kW and 162 kW respectively, and the transmission system is expected to match a 7-speed wet double clutch gearbox. 1.4T engine version is not ruled out in the future. For reference, the current Passat 1.4T engine has a maximum power of 110kW and a peak torque of 250N ·m.

Passat is well known in the domestic market. As a medium-sized car with a long history, its position in the domestic market is even comparable to that of Audi A6, but with the rapid development of the automobile market, Passat has entered thousands of households and become a medium-sized sedan car. This time, the declaration is the ninth generation Passat, the internal code is B9, the car version has been cancelled in overseas markets, leaving only the station wagon version, while in the Chinese market, North and South Volkswagen will continue to launch the hatchback version of Passat in response to the needs of the domestic market.

As a classic representative model of medium-sized cars, Passat's main competitors include Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Nissan Teana, especially Camry and Accord, so that Passat's market competition pressure is relatively great. These two models will be replaced in mid-2023 and early 2024 one after another. According to the data, Camry sold 225500 vehicles in 2023, while Passat and Maiteng sold 191000 and 189400 respectively, while Accord sold 174400.

Like the Camry and Accord, the biggest change in the new generation of Passat is the change in appearance and interior design, and the underlying structure has not changed, although its overall size has been improved. but the wheelbase remains the same, and the 2.0T engine continues the current model.
