Compared with the old model, the price of the new car with extended range version has been reduced by 20,000 yuan. It is worth mentioning that from the point of view of the price, the price of the new M5 is 249800-279800 yuan, which completely overlaps with the ideal L6 model that went on the market a few days ago.

At the press conference, Yu Chengdong introduced the appearance, mileage, intelligent parking and sunscreen skylights of the new M5, compared with the old models, and upgraded the appearance and configuration of the new M5. In appearance, the biggest change in the appearance of the new M5 is mainly reflected in the shape of the front face. the new car cancels the trapezoidal intake grille design of the previous larger size, and is replaced by the common closed intake grid design of pure electric models, which is consistent with the pure electric version. Yu Chengdong joked on the spot that the "big mouth" of the new M5 has changed into a "small mouth". In addition, the new car is designed with a fusion light group, the daily running lights around the circle are lit and the recognition is higher. The new car also blackens the boundary LOGO, and the silver strips around the perimeter are also replaced with black, which makes the whole more fashionable and dynamic.

On the side of the body, the camera components on the fender of the new car and the chrome strips around the windows have also been blackened, and the black double five-spoke rims are matched with red brake calipers to further increase the movement atmosphere of the vehicle. In addition, the high-performance version of the new car features 20-inch rims, Pirelli P-ZERO high-performance tires, long-range 19-inch rims and low roll resistance silent tires. In terms of body color, the new car has added exclusive appearance colors of Metro Red and Daxi ground ash, and there are five kinds of car colors to choose from: gilded black, ceramic white and azure blue. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4770/1930/1625mm, wheelbase is 2880mm, positioning medium-sized SUV. As a comparison, the ideal L6 is 4925/1960/1735mm in length, width and height, and 2920mm in wheelbase, which is better in space.

In the interior part, the new car still adopts a minimalist design style, with three color options of Finch Red, Amber Brown and Shaohua Apricot, equipped with Nappa leather steering wheel and Shu Yun headrest. The car is equipped with a two-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a 10.25inch full liquid crystal instrument, a HUD head-up display system, a 15.6inch suspension central control screen and a wireless fast charging panel with double charging potential. In terms of power, the new car provides two power options: pure electricity and extended range, among which the extended-range version has two power layouts of rear drive and four-wheel drive, both of which are equipped with 1.5T four-cylinder booster, and the rear-drive model is equipped with a rear axle drive motor with a maximum power of 200 kW; the maximum power of the front and rear motors of the all-wheel drive model is 165 kW and 200 kW respectively. The power battery capacity is 42 kWh, the rear-drive version of CLTC has a range of 255km, and the four-wheel drive version of CLTC has a range of 230km. In addition, the pure electric model on the market only provides a rear-drive version, and the power parameters of the drive motor are the same as those of the add-on model, with a battery pack of 83 kilowatt hours and a CLTC mileage of 602km.

The M5 is the first mass-produced model in AITO. It launched three models in February 2022 with a price range of 249800-319800 yuan, which is of the same level as Tesla Model Y and Xiaopeng G6. Retail data show that the cumulative sales of the AITO in the first quarter of this year were 71750, with 69592 of the M7 and 2158 of the M5, of which the M5 sold 857,906 and 395 vehicles in the first three months, respectively, which is significantly different from the head models in this market segment.

Considering the performance of the new M5, the overall appearance of the new car has not changed much, but it has been significantly improved in terms of intelligence. In terms of competition in the car market, the new M5 will face many new competitors after its listing, among which the biggest competitor is the newly listed ideal L6. Ideal L6 is the fifth model and the fourth add-program hybrid model of ideal Motors, which was launched on April 18, positioning five-seat medium-sized SUV, a total of Pro version, Max version models, the price is 249800 yuan, 279800 yuan respectively.

Today, the competition for sales between the new M5 and the ideal L6 is in exactly the same price range, which means that the two will face each other head on. In response to the price, Yu Chengdong said: "it's crazy, it's too fierce, this industry is too hot, and we have a lot of pressure to reduce costs, because cars equipped with Huawei's advanced intelligent driving system sell for less than 300000 at a loss."

Prior to the official release, the new car began pre-sale on April 17, and the cumulative order for only 12 hours of pre-sale exceeded 10000, successfully booking the popular style identity, while the ideal L6 had accumulated orders of more than 10, 000 after 72 hours on the market.
