Hainan Province recently announced that from June 26, the purchase of new energy vehicles in Hainan Province will no longer enjoy local subsidies, with the exception of new energy buses and fuel cell vehicles, which means that new energy pure electric models purchased after June 25 will no longer receive local subsidies in Hainan. However, local subsidies will continue to be given to the purchase of licensed vehicles during the transitional period from March 26 to June 25.

By the end of 2018, a total of 4602 charging piles had been built in Hainan, of which 3502 were public charging piles, but 73 per cent of them were located in Haikou and Sanya. Hainan Province plans to build 65000 new charging piles from 2019 to 2020, reaching 70, 000 by 2020 and 940000 by 2030.
