It won the top sales of B-Class cars in 2017 and 2018, when annual sales exceeded 200000 respectively. However, with the rise of independent brands, Maiteng's market position has also been shaken to a certain extent. Retail data show that Camry, Passat and Maiteng ranked among the top three medium-sized cars in 2023, with sales of 225500, 191000 and 189400, respectively.

As classic models in the field of medium cars, FAW-Volkswagen Maiteng and SAIC-Volkswagen Passat are sister models to compete with Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and other medium-sized cars in the car market. The latest retail figures show that Passat has topped the list for two consecutive months since 2024, with sales of 22313 in January and 11641 in February, but was replaced by Mercedes-Benz C-Class in March. Mai Teng sold 16593, 10217 and 12252 in January-March, respectively.

In the first quarter of this year, Passat, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Maiteng ranked among the top three medium-sized cars, with sales of 53400, 42300 and 39100 respectively. It should be noted that the Accord was launched in May last year, while the Camry was launched in March this year, when the competition in the medium-sized sedan sector will be more intense with the launch of the new generation of Passat and Maiteng models.
