On May 1st, Geely released its April sales figures. Data show that Geely Holdings sold a total of 153267 vehicles in April 2024, an increase of about 39 per cent year-on-year and about 2 per cent month-on-month growth of 628987 vehicles from January to April, up about 47 per cent from a year earlier. In April, Geely's new energy sales were 51428, up about 75% from a year earlier and 15% from a month earlier, while overseas export sales were 38151, up about 75% from a year earlier, making it a new engine for Geely's sales growth.

From the above data, Geely car new energy brand growth is more obvious, but the overall sales base is still not high. In terms of brand segmentation, Geely brand sales in April were 118451, up 35% from a year earlier, of which the Galaxy series was 12725; from January to April, Geely brand sales totaled 500056, up 41% from a year earlier, and Galaxy was 51253.

Galaxy series, which belongs to Geely Automobile, mainly covers the blank of Volkswagen mainstream hybrid market of 15-200000 yuan. In February 2023, Geely launched a new mid-and high-end new energy series "Geely Galaxy". It plans to launch seven new models within two years, including four intelligent electric hybrid L series (L5, L6, L7, L9). Three Galaxy intelligent pure electric E series (E6, E7, E8), covering A0 to B grade hybrid products. At present, the Galaxy series has three models on sale: Galaxy L7, Galaxy L6 and Galaxy L8. Retail data show that the three models sold 18563, 12273 and 7688 respectively from January to March this year.

A few days ago, Fan Junyi, general manager of Geely Automobile sales Company, revealed that Geely has planned three new models, including the Geely Galaxy E5 launched in the second quarter, the hybrid SUV and the mini pure electric model launched in the third quarter.

The brand sold 18727 vehicles in April, up 34 per cent from a year earlier, with cumulative sales of 79783 vehicles from January to April, up 56 per cent from a year earlier. Lectra is a high-end brand joint venture between Geely Automobile Group and Volvo Automobile Group, in which Geely Motor owns 50%, Volvo Motor 30% and Geely Holdings 20%.

According to the official website, LinkedIn currently sells fuel vehicles including Linked01, Linked02, LinkedIn 03 +, 05, 06, 08 as well as new energy vehicles 01 PHEV, 02 PHEV, 05 PHEV, 06 PHEV, 09 MHEV/PHEV and 07 EM-P. Although there are many models, the current performance of Lectra new energy vehicles is relatively general. Retail data show that from January to March this year, the top three models sold by the Lecker brand were Lengke 03, Lok 08 and Lok 06, respectively, with sales of 17767, 17557 and 13651 respectively.

In addition to the above models, Lecker 07 EM-P, a brand new medium-sized sedan, will go on sale on May 17. The new car has already been pre-sold at the 024th Beijing Auto Show, with a pre-price of 180000-210000 yuan. The new car is based on CMA Evo architecture, positioning medium-sized sedan, equipped with Lecker EM-P plug-in hybrid system, the system comprehensive maximum power of 280kW, comprehensive peak torque of 615Nm. The new car will make up for the gap in the medium-sized car market after the launch of the new car. According to the comprehensive pre-sale price, the new car will compete with BYD Seal DM-i (14.98-219800 yuan). Officials said that the pre-sale order of Lok 07 EM-P has exceeded 10000 vehicles, and the follow-up Lok 08 EM-P120 long-haul and Lok 09 MHEV all-wheel drive global version will also be available.

Let's take a look at the polar krypton brand, which sold 16089 vehicles in April, up 99% from a year earlier, an all-time high. Polar krypton brand (English name ZEEKR) was founded on April 15, 2021, is Geely's new intelligent pure electric car brand, jointly invested by Geely Automobile and Geely Holdings, with a shareholding ratio of 51% and 49% respectively. Li Shufu is chairman of the company and an Conghui is CEO. As an important brand of Geely's transformation to new energy, so far, polar krypton cars are on sale, including polar krypton 001, polar krypton 009, polar krypton X and polar krypton 007.

On March 22nd, Polar Krypton announced on official Weibo that its fifth model was officially named ZEEKR MIX. This year, Polar Krypton will also launch a medium and large luxury pure electric SUV and a top luxury pure electric SUV. According to the plan, the annual sales target of polar krypton in 2024 is 200000, which means that polar krypton needs to deliver an average of 16000 new cars per month. Data show that cumulative sales from January to April this year were 49148, an increase of 111% from a year earlier.

Overall, Geely's major brands rose to varying degrees in April, but compared with BYD (313245 new energy vehicles sold in April, up 48.96% from a year earlier), Geely Holdings's April sales performance was not particularly good.

After entering 2024, Geely moves more and more frequently in the field of new energy, especially from the Geely Galaxy brand, the pace of Geely's transformation of new energy is obviously accelerated. According to the plan, Geely Motor's three major brands Geely, Lecker and Polar Krypton will each launch three new energy products in 2024. Under the layout of the new products, Geely Holdings has set a sales target of 1.9 million vehicles in 2024, an increase of 13% over 2023. New energy sales target is expected to increase 66% year on year. However, there is still a lot of uncertainty about how much driving effect the release of more new cars will bring to Geely.
