AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/08 Report--
In 2019, with the decline of sales in China's automobile market and the intensification of competition, brand differentiation will become more obvious. Among Japanese brands, Toyota and Honda posted continuous sales growth, Nissan was tepid, and Mazda's sales fell for 12 months in a row.
The big four Japanese automakers officially released data on new car sales in China, showing different trends, with Toyota and Honda rising year-on-year, while Nissan and Mazda declined.
Toyota had the highest sales in April, with sales in China rising 19.9 per cent from a year earlier to 142600 vehicles, an all-time high in April. Toyota also sold 490000 vehicles in China from January to April, ranking first among Japanese automakers in China.
Toyota's growth has been driven by the continued hot sales of the Camry after the replacement, and Lexus's sales in China increased by 46.9% in April, exceeding 20, 000 units a month for the first time to 21839 units, of which the main model ES sold well, and it was also the first time that monthly sales exceeded 10, 000 to 10629 units.
In the first half of the year, Toyota has launched the Asian Dragon, a medium-sized sedan in the joint venture FAW Toyota, with a market price of 20.88-289800 yuan, which is expected to make up for the lack of sales of Crown models in the medium-sized car market. In the second half of the year, Toyota will launch a new generation of Corolla / Leiling, as well as RAV4 Rongfang and other models to further enhance product strength.
Honda continued the momentum of sales growth, with sales of 125407 new cars in April, up 24 per cent from a year earlier to 460000 from January to April, up 14.6 per cent from a year earlier.
Honda's continuous sales growth, in addition to product power and price advantages, due to Honda in the same period last year in the quality incident led to a sharp decline in sales, a low sales base, this year's recovery will form a higher growth rate.
According to officials, more than 10, 000 Accord, Civic, CR-V, Feido, XR-V and Ling Pai models were sold in April.
Since the beginning of this year, Dongfeng Honda has launched a new model, which can be regarded as Ling Pai's brother model; in April, the hybrid version of Guangzhou Auto Honda Odyssey was officially launched, with a market price of 22.98 yuan to 323800 yuan. In May, Honda will usher in the new Civic, a blockbuster model, which will launch regular and sports versions and go on sale on May 17.
Sales at the other two Japanese manufacturers fell in April.
Nissan's April sales fell 2.9% from a year earlier to 121554 vehicles, overtaken by Toyota and Honda. From January to April, there was a slight increase of 0.9%, totaling 465000 vehicles. Nissan still relies on old products for volume, and new products do not take over the market very well.
Mazda was the worst, selling 17000 units in China in April, down 31.2 per cent from a year earlier and declining for 12 consecutive months. From January to April, Mazda sold only 69385 units, down 32 per cent from a year earlier.
Mazda believes that China's auto market is still in the doldrums, and Mazda's sales are not optimistic. "while the market will remain depressed in the short term, Mazda will strive to improve sales by continuing to convey Mazda's brand value and product advantages to consumers. At the same time, we look forward to the good performance of the new generation of products planned to be launched in the Chinese market this year. "
China's new car sales are affected by the economic slowdown, and the overall market situation continues to be lower than the previous year's level. Among Japanese brands, Toyota and Honda continue to grow, in sharp contrast to Nissan and Mazda.
