AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/19 Report--
On the evening of May 19th, Volvo's new pure electric mini SUV--EX30 officially went on sale.
Volvo EX30 is based on SEA's vast platform and continues the brand's iconic "Scandinavian design" style in appearance, which is basically similar to overseas models, with a choice of single-motor and dual-motor models.
Specifically, the front face of the new car adopts a closed design, with the classic "Thor Hammer" LED headlamp group on both sides, similar to the "T" shape, and the internal light source is arranged in a zigzag pattern with a high degree of recognition. On the side of the body, the side design of the new car is very compact, but the lines are smooth. The ABC three-post is designed in a smoked black style, with hidden door handles, large-size low-resistance wheels and a side skirt with anti-friction strips to create a sports atmosphere.
In terms of size, Volvo EX30 length, width and height are 4233/1838/1555mm, wheelbase is 2650mm, positioning pure electric small SUV, which is basically consistent with the overseas version of the model size.
In the rear part, the new car adopts the shape of encircling taillights, and multiple strips are embedded in the main body of the taillights on both sides of the longitudinal layout, which is highly recognizable after lighting, and the rear is surrounded by a design that is different from that of the car body to increase the three-dimensional sense of the tail. In addition, the right side of the rear of the new car with the word "Volvo Asia Pacific" logo, the surface of its domestic identity.
In terms of interior decoration, the new car is mainly in a simple style, with a large number of environmentally friendly materials, a 12.3inch vertical large central control screen, a built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, and a touch control button on the three-spoke multi-function steering wheel. The air conditioning outlet is also suitable for hidden design, so that there are almost no physical buttons in the car, which is more in line with the current consumer habits and a sense of technology at the same time.
In terms of power, Volvo EX30 offers single-motor rear drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive options, in which the single-motor version uses rear drive, maximum power 200kW (272hp), peak torque 343N ·m. Lithium iron phosphate version is equipped with 49kWh battery pack, CLTC battery life is 410km, ternary lithium rear drive version is equipped with 66kWh battery pack, CLTC life is 590km; four-wheel drive version uses front and rear motor output 115kW/ 200N ·m, rear motor output 200kW/ 343N ·m, comprehensive power 315kW, peak torque is 543N ·m, four-wheel drive version is also equipped with 66kWh battery pack, the maximum battery life is 540km.
Volvo, a well-known Swedish luxury car brand, was born in 1927. Figures show that Volvo's global sales totaled 182687 vehicles in the first quarter of this year, up 12% from a year earlier. Of this total, the Chinese market accumulated sales of 37958 vehicles, up 4 per cent from the same period last year.
At present, Volvo's sales in the Chinese market still rely on fuel cars, and the only electric cars are mainly mixed models. Retail data show that in the first quarter of this year, Volvo sold the top three models in China, respectively, XC60, S90 and S60, with sales of 16448, 8425 and 4090 respectively, followed by XC40 with 1868, and the rest were less than 1,000. Obviously, in China's new energy market, Volvo has obviously lagged behind Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Tesla and other luxury car companies.
Although Volvo is considered to be one of the first traditional luxury brands to start electrification, its performance in new energy models still lacks highlights, especially in the Chinese market. "Automotive Industry concern" believes that Volvo's rapid layout of electrified transformation is a sign of embracing the market, but as the first car company to announce that it will stop the research and production of internal combustion engines and make a comprehensive transition to electrification in the future, most of the electric models currently sold in Volvo's second largest market in the world, the Chinese market, are still "oil-to-electricity" products, coupled with the fact that the pace of launch and transformation of new energy products is not fast. This is also the key reason why it is difficult to improve its sales.
According to the official website, Volvo's domestic models in China include S90, S60, XC60 and XC40, of which S90, S60 and XC60 launch plug-in hybrid models on the basis of fuel vehicles, while XC40 introduces pure electric models on the basis of fuel vehicles. As for the performance of the new pure electric small SUV--EX30 after its official listing, it is worth looking forward to.
According to the plan, Volvo's pure electric models will account for 50 per cent of total sales by 2025 and will be completely transformed into an all-electric brand by 2030, eliminating all models with internal combustion engines, while Volvo aims to increase sales by 15 per cent this year.
