AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/23 Report--
After surpassing Japan to become the number one in the world for the first time, the growth of China's automobile exports remains strong in 2024.
According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, China's automobile exports from January to April 2024 were 1.827 million, an increase of 33.4% over the same period last year, significantly higher than the 5.6% growth rate of domestic sales. China's automobile exports have gradually become a bright spot in China's automobile growth.
According to the overall data of third-party media, among the top 10 car brands in China from January to April 2024, with the exception of Mingjue and Tesla, other brands showed different growth, especially BYD's growth, directly pushing Tesla out of the top three.
Specifically, the Chery brand ranked first with sales of 272100 vehicles. Ruihu 7, Ruihu 5X, ou Mengda and Ruihu 8 all entered the top 10 of the export model list, with the largest number of models on the list, with Ruihu 7 second only to Tesla Model 3 with 21000 vehicles and Ruihu 5X with 10800 vehicles. Exports have always been Chery's advantage, with the entire Chery Group exporting 937100 cars in 2023, accounting for about half of the total sales. In addition to the Chery brand, the Jetway brand of Chery Holdings is also among the top 10 exporters.
Mingjue followed Chery, with exports totaling 165600 vehicles from January to April 2024, down 10.3% from the same period last year. Among them, Mingjue 3, Mingjue ZS and Mingjue 5 entered the top 10 of the export model list, followed by Chery Tiger 7, 11700, Mingjue ZS 9850 and Mingjue 5 9554.
After Chery and Mingjue, BYD overtook Tesla in third place with 138800 vehicles, and the latter exported 119200 vehicles. BYD achieved an advantage of nearly 20, 000 vehicles. At the same time, BYD also had the largest increase in the brand list, up 157.4 per cent from a year earlier, while Tesla fell 7.0 per cent year-on-year. The difference is that Tesla Model 3 is the most exported model, with 25100 vehicles, while BYD has no models in the top 10. Song Pro New Energy, Seagull and Seal respectively ranked 13th, 15th and 18th, of which Song Pro New Energy ranked 7200. Since the beginning of this year, the gap between BYD and Tesla is narrowing. Although the latter is still the largest pure electric car manufacturer in the world, its market share has been eroded by Chinese electric car brands, including BYD. In particular, more and more brands begin to pay attention to overseas markets.
In terms of other brands, Geely ranked fifth with exports of 115400 vehicles, Changan and Harvard ranked sixth and seventh, with exports of 99000 and 93200 respectively in the first four months, while Baojun brand of SAIC GM Wuling exported 53600 vehicles. Yueda Kia ranked 10th with 43200, and it is also the only joint venture brand in the top 10. In addition to the top 10 list, Jianghuai Automobile, GAC MOTOR, SAIC GM Wuling, Tank and Dongfeng Honda ranked 11-15 respectively, of which Dongfeng Honda was the second joint venture brand to enter the list. Nawei Automobile, Changan Lincoln, Xingtu, Dongfeng and Guangzhou Automobile Honda ranked 16-20.
It is not difficult to see from the ranking that the export of China's own brands has become more and more advantageous. Except for Tesla and Yueda Kia, the other top 10 are independent brands, of which Chery, Mingjue and BYD are far ahead, especially BYD, which directly pulls Tesla down the top three, which is related to BYD's crazy layout of overseas markets, including joint venture brands such as Yueda Kia, Dongfeng Honda and Guangzhou Automobile Honda. Most of them are under sales pressure in the domestic market and begin to export their products to overseas markets.
