AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)06/01 Report--

Recently, Changan Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the "Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recall" and the "Implementation Measures for the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recall". Starting from now on, some domestic Mazda CX-50 vehicles produced between February 15, 2023 and September 7, 2023 will be recalled, totaling 9510 vehicles.

The announcement shows that for some vehicles within the recall range, due to improper control procedures of the Vehicle Control System (VCM), when there are objects such as sloped walls next to the road while the vehicle is driving, the intelligent driving assistance system will misdetect, resulting in no collision of the vehicle. A prompt message or a prompt tone will appear when the vehicle is at risk. In extreme cases, the vehicle will be braked incorrectly, posing a safety hazard. In response to the above defects, Changan Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. will upgrade the VCM control program for vehicles within the recall scope free of charge through authorized dealers to eliminate safety hazards.

Data shows that the CX-50 will be launched on May 25, 2023, with a selling price range of 159,800 - 106,800 yuan, of which the 2.0L selling price range is 159,800 - 177,800 yuan, and the 2.5L selling price range is 175,800 - 206,800 yuan. It is understood that the CX-50 is a new compact SUV built based on a front-drive transverse platform. The length, width and height are 4785/1920/1638mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2815mm, which is a full circle larger than the CX-5. In terms of power, the CX-50 offers two power options: 2.0L and 2.5L. The 2.0L engine has a maximum power of 114kW and a peak torque of 200N·m. The 2.5L engine has a maximum power of 138kW and a peak torque of 250N·m. Both are equipped with a 6AT gearbox in terms of transmission.

The CX-50 is the first model launched after the merger of North and South Mazda. Competitors point to the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. However, compared with the above two models, Mazda does not have much brand advantages in the domestic market. The performance of the CX-50 is therefore far inferior to the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. Data shows that the sales volume of CX-50 in 2023 will be 10265 units, ranking third among Mazda brands and lower than Angxera and CX-5, of which Angxera has 49419 units and CX-50 has 17884 units. Sales of CX-50 units from January to April 2024 were only 2704 units, with an average monthly sales of about 700 units.

In today's environment, the concessions offered by joint-venture brand fuel vehicles represented by Toyota RAV4 Rongfang and Honda CR-V are increasing, and the pressure on the CX-50 is not small.
