AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)07/11 Report--
On July 8th, Nissan China released its latest sales figures. Nissan sold 52852 terminal vehicles in China in June, down 23.56 per cent from a year earlier, according to the data. Of this total, Dongfeng Nissan (including Nissan, Qichen and Infiniti brands) sold 49838 vehicles, down 23.08 per cent from a year earlier.
Mr. Shohei Yamazaki, chairman of Nissan's China Management Committee and president of Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd., said: "Nissan Xuanyi series continued to maintain strong sales momentum this month. In addition, the overall sales performance of Teana and SUV models are good. These models and new configuration options will help Nissan meet the diversified product needs of Chinese consumers."
Nissan is not having an easy time at the moment. Nissan sold 339297 terminal cars in China in the first half of this year, down 5.36 per cent from a year earlier, according to official figures. Dongfeng Nissan passenger cars mainly operate three major brands: Nissan, Infiniti and Qichen. Among them, the Nissan brand is the main source of sales of Nissan in China, with models on sale including Xuanyi, Teana, Qijun, Xiaoke, Tuda, Jinke, Loulan and so on. But there are not many models that can take a taxi. Retail data show that in the first half of this year, the sales of Xuanyi, Xiaoke and Teana were 161400, 53400, 38400 and 18200 respectively, while the rest of the models sold less than 10,000 vehicles. For example, Panda, which ranked fifth, only had 9800.
As for Infiniti and Qichen, the sense of existence of the two major brands in the car market is not high. Retail data show that Infiniti, a luxury brand owned by Nissan, sold 1079 vehicles in the first half of the year, with the highest sales of Infiniti QX60 and Infiniti QX50 The cumulative sales of Qichen brand, the independent brand of Dongfeng Nissan joint venture, in the first half of the year were 24577, the highest-selling model, Qichen V DD-i, was 6098, and the sales of Qichen D60EV, Qichen V and Qichen D60 were 5936, 4354 and 3068 respectively.
In other words, Nissan's sales in China can only rely on the Nissan brand. As for the sales performance in the first half of 2024, Mr. Yamazaki explained: "the situation in the Chinese market is still complex. In order to better adapt to the rapid changes in the market and consumer demand, Nissan increased the configuration options of models on sale in the first half of the year, and made use of the advantage of local resources to speed up the development of new energy vehicles, which will continue to provide value with a more balanced product lineup in the future, meet diversified user needs, and fulfill its commitments to Chinese consumers. "
At present, Nissan is facing the problem of new energy transformation. So far, there are no popular models in pure electric models, and data show that Ariya sold 1682 vehicles in the first half of the year, with monthly sales of less than 300. It is worth mentioning that ARIYA Aireya was once regarded as a landmark product of Nissan's electrification transformation and played an important role in Nissan's motorization. Admittedly, the car failed to carry the banner of Nissan.
The Chinese market is one of the core markets of Nissan in the world, but the main force of sales of Dongfeng Nissan is facing greater pressure, especially after entering the Spring Festival of the Dragon year in 2024, BYD directly played the slogan "electricity is lower than oil". The listing of Qin PLUS DM-i from 79800 yuan directly affected Xuanyi's position in the car market. As China's electric vehicles continue to deepen the layout, the follow-up tram market will also usher in greater competition, Nissan China does not accelerate the electrification transformation, the follow-up sales may not take a turn for the better.
