It is understood that the new Audi A5 will no longer launch Coupe and Cabriolet models, but will only launch Sportback sedan cars and Avant station wagons, of which Sportback sedan cars include ordinary version A5 and performance version S5. Compared with the previous generation, the new Audi A5 is even larger in size, with a 2.0T engine and a 3.0T V6 engine, which will be carried on the performance version S5.

In terms of appearance, the new Audi A5 family uses the latest design language, which is more ferocious and atmospheric as a whole. The overall outline of the new Audi A5 remains the same, and the classic hexagonal grille is retained, but the shape is flatter than the current model. At the same time, the new Audi A5 family uses a newly designed headlight group, the shape of the latter half is relatively round compared to the cash model, and the internal LED daytime driving lights use a feather-like style, which adds a certain degree of recognition to the front part. The front enclosure also adopts a brand-new design, with long and narrow rectangular air intakes under the front middle net, larger ventilation grooves on both sides, and the lines of the front cover are also adjusted to match the smoked Audi logo, so that the visual effect of the front part of the car is more sporty than the cash model.

On the side of the body, the design details of the new Audi A5 family have also been adjusted. The side lines are segmented, the front and rear fenders are higher than the doors, and the lines at the doors connect the semi-hidden doorknobs of the front and rear doors. In the rear part, the new Audi A5 family uses a new style of penetrating taillight group, and both ends of the taillight are equipped with OLED modules that can set a variety of display effects, which can show 8 different effects. In terms of interior decoration, the new Audi A5 family is also renovated, with a double screen style for the instrument and central control screen, and an entertainment screen in front of the passenger. In addition, the new car uses a new steering wheel shape, and the shift mechanism has been changed from an electronic gear to a smaller electronic slider style, making the sub-instrument console look more concise.

On the power side, the new Audi A5 family offers 2.0T four-cylinder engine and 3.0T V6 engine. The former will be used in the A5 Sportback coupe and the A5 Avant station wagon, while the latter will be used in the S5 Sportback coupe. In terms of transmission, the new Audi A5 family will be equipped with a seven-gear S-tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission and provide front-drive and four-wheel drive power layouts.

Judging from Audi's current product planning, the new Audi A5 family will fully replace the previous Audi A4 family's role in the brand and become the role of medium-sized cars in the fuel product series. The subsequent Audi A4 family will be included in the electrified product series and will no longer provide fuel models.

It should be noted that this product change will also be introduced into the Chinese market. As we all know, the first introduction of A4L by FAW-Audi on January 5, 2009 is a new car launched by Audi only in Chinese mainland. Its relationship is similar to that of A6-A6L, and it is also a derivative of overseas models' configuration changes and market demand after they are made in China. Four years have passed since FAW-Audi launched the new A4L in April 2020, which is the fifth generation model code-named B9. With the release of the new Audi A5 family, the naming of FAW-Audi A4L will also be changed, which may be renamed A5L. Details need to be announced at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show.

In addition, with the fierce competition in the domestic market, Audi A4L is no longer the exclusive of FAW-Audi. According to media reports, Audi will produce the new Audi A5 at the same time in North and South Audi, and not just Audi A5. After that, Audi will launch the same model in North and South Audi, but both companies will be encouraged to localize their products and freely obtain the sales of new cars through internal competition. it is not clear whether new energy vehicles are suitable for use, but this change is unique in Audi's history. Industry insiders said that Audi's change is mainly due to the profit trend. Audi holds a 10% stake in FAW-Audi and 50% in SAIC Audi, which is also the driving force behind Audi's continuous transfer of products.

For Audi, it may be more necessary to consider how to improve the product power in the current competitive environment, otherwise it is likely to fall into internal friction.
