In terms of appearance, the new Passat pro adopts the latest family design language of the Volkswagen brand, largely drawing on the design language of the "ID" family, using a blackened headlight group design, the upper part is the LED day running lights, and runs through the entire front face, while equipped with the glowing brand LOGO. Like the new Tuguan L PRO, it also offers two front face options, both of which use upper and lower split grille design, the main difference is the lower air intake shape. Among them, the standard version uses a large-size three-stage air inlet design, and adds dense banner decorations inside to enhance the sense of refinement, while the R-Line version adopts the through-type air inlet design and adds black mesh elements inside, with silver kits on both sides to enhance the sense of movement.

On the side of the car body, the overall outline of the new Passat pro is not much different from that of the current Passat. The rear part of the car adopts the new styling through-type taillight design, and the internal irregular square lamp group looks full of science and technology. The new car is equipped with a small spoiler and a penetrating decorative strip is used around the rear. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 5006/1850/1489mm, and the wheelbase is 2871mm, which is more 58mm than the current Passat length, and the wheelbase remains the same.

In terms of interior decoration, referring to the overseas version of the model, the new Passat pro is also built in the latest family language, the overall design is more concise than the Tuguan L PRO, the car is equipped with a 10.25inch full liquid crystal meter and HUD head display, while the car is equipped with a 15-inch suspension central control screen, integrated with the latest multimedia system, and the touch entity button is retained below. It is not known whether domestic models will be modified, such as adding co-driver screens.

In terms of power, unlike the current models, the new Passat pro has declared models with 1.5T and 2.0T engines, with a maximum power of 118 kilowatts and 162 kilowatts, respectively, and the transmission system is expected to match a seven-speed wet double-clutch transmission. For reference, the current Passat 1.4T engine has a maximum power of 110kW and a peak torque of 250N ·m.

Passat is well known in the domestic market. As a medium-sized car with a long history, its position in the domestic market is even comparable to that of Audi A6, but with the rapid development of the automobile market, Passat has entered thousands of households and become a medium-sized sedan car. In July 2011, the new generation of Passat was officially announced in China, providing 1.8T, 2.0T and 3.0L displacement, followed by the launch of 1.4T power to meet the needs of consumers for comfort. In October 2018, the new Passat was officially launched as the domestic version of PASSAT B8, based on the new MQB platform, eliminating the 3.0L power of the previous generation model and adding the PHEV model.

Coming soon is the new Passat pro, the domestic version of PASSAT B9 and the domestic version of European PASSAT. In overseas markets, Volkswagen has cancelled the car version and retained only the station wagon version, while in the Chinese market, North and South Volkswagen will continue to launch the hatchback version of the Passat, which is unique to the Chinese market, to meet the needs of the domestic market. Not long ago, the new Maiteng officially listed, with a price range of 17.99-246900 yuan, which belongs to the domestic version of the American version of PASSAT.

Passat, Maiteng, Accord and Camry are four wind-grade products in the joint venture medium-sized car market, which have been replaced one after another in the past year. As a classic medium-sized car, the main competitors of the new Passat pro include Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Nissan Teana, especially Camry and Accord. Data show that in the first half of the year, Passat and Maiteng were 103000 and 76200 respectively, Camry 60500 and Accord 66300. After the replacement, the Accord and Camry market performance is significantly depressed.

Like the Camry and Accord, the biggest change in the new generation of Passat is the change in appearance and interior design, and the underlying structure has not changed, although its overall size has been improved. but the wheelbase remains the same, and the 2.0T engine continues the current model.
