In 2016, GAC Group issued an announcement agreeing to its subsidiary Guangzhou Automobile Group Passenger Car Company to acquire a 49% stake in GAC Geno Automobile Co., Ltd., and carry out subsequent production transformation and construction projects to transform GAC Geno's production base into a production Trumpchi model. In 2019, Guangzhou Automobile Group Passenger Vehicle Company changed its name to GAC Passenger Vehicle Co., Ltd. In fact, as early as September 2017, it was reported in the market that GAC Passenger Cars would be renamed GAC Chuanqi, but it has not yet been implemented.

In the first half of the year, GAC Trumpchi's cumulative sales volume was 188,900 units, a year-on-year increase of 0.44%. It was the only brand in the group to achieve growth, of which sales volume in June was 32,800 units, a year-on-year decrease of 20.29%.
