It is understood that BMW China introduced the third-generation BMW X3 into domestic production and sales in April 2018, with a price of 39.98-585800 yuan, keeping the same design and size as the overseas version. At the time, longer wheelbase was not a necessary option for BBA. At that time, only Audi offered the Q5L model, but just after the launch of the BMW X3, Audi stopped selling the Q5 and sold only the Q5L. In August 2019, Mercedes-Benz followed Audi by introducing a mid-term revamped GLC-L to replace the GLC standard wheelbase version. So far, only the BMW X3 has not lengthened the wheelbase of the three luxurious medium-sized BBA SUV.

The change in this market makes the market position of BMW X3 very awkward. By comparison, the Audi Q5L wheelbase is 2907mm, while Mercedes-Benz GLC-L is 2973mm, and BMW X3 is only 2864mm. Although the "authentic" design puts the BMW X3's driving experience ahead of its peers, it also suffers a lot from its spatial disadvantages.

The declaration information shows that the length, width and height of the new BMW X3 long wheelbase version is 4865/1920/1664mm, and the wheelbase is 2975mm, which increases 111mm compared to the current model. Thanks to the increase in body size, the rear seat space will be greatly expanded, and the thickness and length of the rear seats will also increase, bringing users a more comfortable ride experience. As a result, Chinese consumers naturally have more expectations for the new BMW X3.

As BMW has always done, the overall design of the new BMW X3 long wheelbase version is loyal to the design of overseas original models, the classic double kidney grille has been retained and the size has been increased, and the interior has been decorated with vertical + diagonal chrome lines for the first time, this design technique has been applied to many BMW models, and the split BMW ring bright grille has been used for the first time. At the same time, the "Angel Eye" LED headlight group is updated to a double L-shaped broken line style, the daytime driving lights are sharper than the classic ring shape, and the lower surrounding area is treated intermittently.

From the side, the new BMW X3 long wheelbase version uses a newly designed side profile, the shoulder line has an obvious upward trend, and the D-column still retains the shape decoration of Huo's corner. In terms of interior decoration, the new BMW X3 also uses BMW's new family interior style without suspense, using a double screen design composed of 12.3-inch instrument screen and 14.9 central control screen, and the new car is equipped with a new 5-series similar interactive atmosphere light. including the position below the central control screen and the front mobile phone charging panel, creating a simple and technological cockpit atmosphere. From January to July 2024, the BMW X3 sold 64652 vehicles, ranking second only to the BMW 3-Series, while the BMW X3 sold 17855 vehicles, ranking seventh among the BMW brands.
