Recently, Li Fenggang, executive deputy general manager of FAW Audi, said that the naming of the fuel vehicle A6L will be retained, and the next generation A6L sold in China will not be renamed, because A6L does have a very special position in the Chinese market, and in terms of consumer choice, it is sensitive to numbers. In Chinese traditional culture, the number "6" represents a lot of beautiful meanings of peace and success. If it is changed to A7L, it will obviously have an impact on the original customer base. Keeping the name of the fuel vehicle A6L not only meets the needs of customers, but also continues the most important brand equity. At the same time, Audi A6L e-tron will also be introduced into FAW Audi channel sales, the future in China's A6L will be "oil and electricity duo", both "refueling" and "power".

At the same time, Li Fenggang said that the Audi A5 is the first product on the PPC platform, which uses a new electronic and electrical architecture, and makes comprehensive changes in appearance, interior and even power. FAW Audi will introduce A5 as a brand-new model, lengthen it into A5L hatchback sedan, and import A5 Avant station wagon, S5 hatchback sedan, S5 Avant station wagon and other whole family models, providing a complete new Audi A5 family.

The new Audi A5 was officially released on July 16, renamed from Audi A4. Compared with the previous generation, the new Audi A5 is even larger in size, with a 2.0T engine and a 3.0T V6 engine, which will be carried on the performance version S5. According to media reports, the Audi A5L, to be introduced by FAW Audi, will be the first model to be equipped with Huawei's smart driving solution, and is expected to debut at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show and launch in mid-2025.

In terms of size, the size of the new Audi A5 has become larger, with 4829/1860/1444mm in length, width and height and 2900mm in wheelbase. For comparison, the length, width and height of the current Audi A4L are 4858/1847/1439mm and the wheelbase is 2908mm. The new Audi A5 standard axis version is relatively close to the size of the Audi A4L sold in China, with this as a reference, the new domestic Audi A5L wheelbase is expected to be lengthened by about 100mm, that is, the wheelbase is close to 3 meters, which has reached the standard of medium and large cars. it means that the Audi A5L will be sold in the same room with the Audi A4L, and the Audi A5L will be positioned higher and the price will be higher.

Li Fenggang said that 2025 will be the centralized launch period of the new generation of FAW Audi products, which will bring a variety of new products on the two fronts of fuel and new energy. Starting from 2025, based on the two new platforms of PPC and PPE, FAW Audi will launch new Audi A5L, Q5L, Q6L e-tron, A6L e-tron and other blockbuster products one after another. at the same time, the whole family models such as Audi A5 Avant, S5 and S5 Avant will be imported.

It is worth mentioning that with the fierce competition in the domestic market, Audi A5L is no longer the exclusive of FAW-Audi. According to media reports, Audi will produce the new Audi A5 at the same time in North and South Audi, and not just Audi A5. After that, Audi will launch the same model in North and South Audi, but both companies will be encouraged to localize their products and freely get sales of new cars through internal competition. According to reports, the Audi A5 put into production by SAIC Audi may be a Sportback model, and the smart driving solution is also different. It will adopt the Momenta smart driving solution, which is currently adopted by Zhiji.

According to the results released by Audi Group, revenue in the first half of this year was 30.939 billion euros, down 9.5% from the same period last year; operating profit was 1.982 billion euros, down 33.59% from the same period last year; in terms of sales, Audi Group delivered a total of 844000 Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini-branded cars in the first half of the year, down 8.2% from the same period last year. Among them, the delivery volume of electric vehicles was 76600, an increase of 1.3 per cent over the same period last year.

From a regional perspective, Audi delivered 343600 vehicles in Europe in the first half, down 8.7 per cent from a year earlier, while delivery in the US market was 92900, down 14.2 per cent from a year earlier. In the Chinese market, Audi brand sales were 320400, down 1.9 per cent from a year earlier. Audi mentioned that the Chinese market is facing the challenge of increasing competition and shrinking high-end car market. Since 2024, as the price war in China's car market has intensified, strong domestic brands are starting to carve up the cake of luxury cars. Sales of BMW and Mercedes-Benz in China were 375900 and 352600 respectively, down 4.2% and 6.52% from the same period last year, while sales surged by 573.80% over the same period.

To this end, Audi Group also lowered its annual performance forecast. Audi expects full-year revenue in 2024 to be between 63 billion and 68 billion euros, operating margins between 6 and 8 per cent, and net cash flow forecast to remain unchanged at 2.5 billion to 3.5 billion euros.
