On August 15th, a new generation of Lincoln navigators made their debut at the 2024 Pebble Beach Motor Show. As the fifth generation model, the new car positioning large SUV, mainly for the appearance and interior for major changes and upgrades, visual effects are younger and fashionable, power continues to carry a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbocharged engine. According to the plan, the new car is expected to be first launched in overseas markets in the spring of 2025.

In terms of appearance, the new car uses the latest family design language of the Lincoln brand. Compared with the current model, the front face of the new car uses a larger hexagonal grille design, the interior is blackened honeycomb, the through-type LED light belt passes through the grille and connects with both sides to form a through-type light belt effect, the middle inlaid brand can glow LOGO, and the decorations on both sides can also shine at the same time, to enhance recognition while the visual effect is also quite domineering. In addition, the through air intake design is adopted under the new car to further enhance the sense of stability of the vehicle.

On the side of the body, the overall shape of the new car is basically consistent with the cash, and the straight and slender waistline sets off the huge body with conventional door handles and brand-new style wheels. It is understood that the new car will provide silver two-color and smoked style two sets of wheels, equipped with a new style of 22-inch rims, and optional upgrade to 24 inches. In the rear part, the new car taillight adopts the through-type taillight group design which echoes with the front face, and the recognition degree is very high after lighting. In addition, the rear door of the new car is opened at the upper and lower ends.

In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 5334/2403/1981mm, the standard axle version is extended to 5334mm, and the long wheelbase version is extended to 5636mm. For comparison, the current model is 5355/2073/1937mm in length, width and height, and 3112mm in wheelbase, which is located in large SUV.

In the interior part, the biggest change of the new car is the replacement of a 48-inch large screen, which supports the interconnection of CarPlay and Android Auto phones, which runs almost through the center console. At the same time, the new car also adds an 11.1inch central control screen with built-in Google application system in the central control area, which is more technical than the current model. In addition, the new car uses a new style of steering wheel and fine-tunes the design of the central aisle area and the armbox, but the new car continues the Lincoln family's iconic piano-key shift mechanism. In terms of seat layout, the new car uses a 2-2-3 seven-seat layout, and the interior of the cockpit is covered with a large number of leather materials, which is full of luxury in visual effect. In addition, the second row seats of the new car are electrically adjustable seats, the first and second rows have the functions of heating, ventilation and massage, and the third row has the function of heating.

In terms of power, the new car is still equipped with a 3.5T V6 turbocharged engine with a maximum output power of 440 horsepower, a peak torque of 691 Nm, a 10-speed automatic transmission, an adaptive suspension and an all-wheel drive system.

Reviewing the development of Lincoln navigators, the first generation of navigators retired in 2002. The following year, the second generation of navigators went on sale, and this generation of models changed significantly compared with the previous generation, with larger straight waterfall grille and thicker headlamp sets, and redesigned the interior and chassis. The interior is made of more advanced materials to interpret the positioning of luxury models. In the early stage of power, the engine of the first generation navigator was used, but in the later stage, the 5.4L V8 SOHC naturally aspirated engine of Ford Fmur150 was replaced because of cost. The only difference between the two engines was torque, and the 6AT gearbox was replaced for the first time.

The third-generation navigator was unveiled at the Chicago Motor Show in 2006. as a new-generation model, the car has changed greatly in appearance and uses a brand new rear five-link independent suspension to further improve driving handling and ride comfort. In 2014, the mid-term model of the third-generation navigator will be on the market, with a flying-wing forward grille in appearance, a new design for the headlight group, a left-and right-through design for the taillight group, and a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine for power to match the six-speed automatic transmission.

Lincoln's fourth-generation navigator was officially unveiled at the 2017 New York Auto Show, which is based on Ford's T3 platform and has undergone major changes in appearance and interior. This generation of models will not launch the fourth-generation mid-term version of the navigator until 2021.

In the domestic market, the car that Lincoln navigator enters the country for the first time is the second generation navigator, which is sold in the country by import. However, because Lincoln did not officially enter China at that time, life at home was not easy, and finally withdrew from China in 2008. In 2014, the third-generation navigator launched a mid-term revamped model, and Lincoln officially entered the Chinese market. The navigator, as Lincoln's new flagship SUV, was sold in China in the form of official imports at a price of 1.1888 million yuan at that time. In January 2018, the fourth-generation navigator officially launched two models in China, the honorable version priced at 1.128 million yuan and the presidential version priced at 1.228 million yuan. In July 2022, the fourth generation of mid-term modified navigators launched only one model, with an official price of 1.428 million yuan at that time. The new car is mainly optimized for appearance and configuration, and the power is still equipped with a 3.5T V6 engine.

Today, Lincoln mainly sells domestic cars in the domestic market, with retail figures showing that Lincoln sold 71589 vehicles in China in 2023 and 33234 in the first July of this year.

So far, Lincoln's domestic models include SUV adventurers, aviators, navigators and the Lincoln Z, while navigators are the source of sales of Lincoln's imported cars.
