On August 21, the new model of SAIC-Volkswagen, Tuyue Xinrui, was officially unveiled. It is understood that the new car will become a new entry model of the Tuyue family, with a size larger than Tujia and smaller than Tuyue, positioning the entry-level compact SUV model, and the price is expected to be lower than that of Tuyue, with 1.5T engines and 1.5L naturally aspirated engines. According to the plan, the new car will go on sale at the 2024 Chengdu Auto Show, which opens on August 30th.

In terms of appearance, the new car uses Volkswagen's latest family design language, the front face uses a large area intake grille with lens LED headlamp group and penetrating LED light belt design, and provides black package version and chrome version of the design style. From a subdivision point of view, the black bag version of the model uses smoked black horizontal banner decoration, with a cool black sports kit, including exterior rearview mirror, side window edge trim, roof luggage and other details for blackening, with more overall emphasis on sports and avant-garde flavor; the chrome-plated version of the model carries on chromium plating on the intake grille, with more emphasis on classic and stable style. In addition, the new car also adds silver decorations on the lower side of the front bumper, resulting in younger visual effects and richer layers.

On the side of the body, the new car adopts a line layout similar to that of Tuguan L PRO, with a more round and thick overall shape, with a segmented waistline extending from the front to the rear, showing muscle lines, and the blackened multi-spoke rims below further enhance the sense of movement of the vehicle. In terms of body color, the new car provides a total of 5 appearance colors: vibrant blue, fresh powder, breeze green, salt gray and moonlight white. In the rear part of the car, the new car uses a through taillight group and is blackened. The rear bumper also has a silver decoration and a red reflective strip, and the right side of the tail mark is marked with the letter "XR", indicating the identity of the new car. In terms of exhaust, the new car uses a hidden exhaust layout, the overall matching does not lose the sense of movement.

In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car is 4355/1762/1605mm, and the wheelbase is 2651mm, positioning the new SUV model. As a reference, the length, width and height of Tuyue are 4458/1841/1632mm and the wheelbase is 2680mm.

In the interior part, the new car is equipped with suspended central control screen, Volkswagen family-style multi-function steering wheel and liquid crystal dashboard, and the center console channel area retains some physical function keys and mechanical shift lever without losing the sense of science and technology. In terms of power, the new car offers a choice of 1.5T engines and 1.5 liter naturally aspirated engines. Among them, the maximum power of 1.5T engine is 118 kilowatts and that of 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine is 81 kilowatts.

It is understood that Tuyue is a compact SUV owned by SAIC-Volkswagen, which went on sale in October 2018. SAIC-Volkswagen Xintuyue was launched in March 2023. The car is based on the MQB platform and provides 1.5T engine and 2.0T engine. The maximum power of 1.5T engine is 118kW and 2.0T engine is 137kW. The price range is 158600-216600 yuan. Retail data show that Tuyue sold 46000 vehicles from January to July this year, compared with 99600 in 2023. SAIC-Volkswagen's launch of a lower-positioning Tuyue Xinrui may further help it grab more share of the compact SUV market.

From the positioning of the new car, the new car will compete with Guangzhou Auto Honda ZR-V, Dongfeng Honda HR-V, Carola Ruifang and Changan Mazda CX-30 after its launch. As for the new car price, from the positioning analysis, it is expected to be lower than the Tuyue model. As a reference, the price range of Tuyue currently on sale is 158600-216600 yuan.
