SAIC-Volkswagen has confirmed that the "Tuyue XR" will be named "Tuyue Xinrui". The new car will be officially launched on Aug. 21 and is expected to go on sale at the 2024 Chengdu Motor Show. As a new product of the Tuyue family, the Tuyue XR, like the Lang Yi XR, will become an entry-level model for the Tuyue family, and its price will be lower than that of Tuyue. Although it is called Tuyue Xinrui, the new car is actually a small SUV, which can be understood as an upgraded version of the Tujia model. As a reference, the price range of Tuyue currently on sale is 15.86-216600 yuan, while that of Tujia is 11.59-161900 yuan. It is estimated that the starting price of Tuyue Xinrui should be about 130000 yuan.

In terms of appearance, Tuyue Xinrui adopts a brand-new front face design, offering two design styles: black package version and chrome-plated version, in which the black bag version is blackened with details such as external rearview mirror, side window edge trim, roof luggage and so on. More emphasis on sports and avant-garde flavor. The other is the version of chrome plating kit that focuses on classic and steady style, the overall design style is similar to that of Tuguan L PRO, which is similar to ID. The family's through-through daylight, the headlamp group contains LED headlamps with lenses, the front is surrounded by silver double horizontal chrome strips, and the lower enclosure is designed cross-border.

Body side, Tuyue Xinrui overall line design is also similar to Tuguan L PRO, the overall shape is still relatively round and thick, segmented waistline design shows muscle lines. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4355/1762/1605mm, wheelbase is 2651mm, positioning small SUV. As a reference, the length, width and height of Tuyue are 4458/1841/1632mm and the wheelbase is 2680mm. In the rear part of the car, Tuyue Xinrui uses a through taillight group, the rear bumper is decorated with silver, and the right side is added with "XR" to indicate identity information. At the same time, the car adopts hidden exhaust layout.

In terms of power, Tuyue Xinrui is equipped with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine and a 1.5T turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 81 kilowatts and a maximum power of 118 kilowatts. As a reference, Tuyue provides 1.5T engine and 2.0T engine, of which 1.5T engine has a maximum power of 118 kW and 2.0T engine has a maximum power of 137 kW.

It is understood that Tuyue is a compact SUV owned by SAIC and Volkswagen, which launched in October 2018 and launched a medium-term modified model in March 2023. The purpose of this model is to share the sales pressure of Tuguan L. In the past, SAIC-Volkswagen had only one compact SUV, but the launch of the lower-positioning Tuyue could give consumers more choices, thereby seizing the market of other joint venture compact SUV. As a lower-positioning Tuyue Xinrui, its competitors may change, targeting such as Toyota Corolla Ruifang / Fenglanda, Honda HR-V/ZR-V and so on.

Since SAIC-Volkswagen launched Tuyue, it has always had a good market performance, selling 45984 vehicles from January to July in 2023, 99628 in 2023 and 120561 in 2022. In the past two years, the Chinese automobile market has indeed developed too fast, and Tuyue's competitiveness has gradually weakened, while the introduction of the lower positioning of Tuyue Xinrui has brought more choices to consumers and better compete with Chinese brands.
