As a new replacement model, the new car continues the non-load-bearing body structure, but greatly adjusts the appearance and interior, and lengthens the body size to provide 2.0T gasoline and 2.4T diesel engine.

The new car was first unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2024. In terms of appearance, the new car uses the popular "square box" design to create a tough and retro visual effect. Specifically, the front face of the new car uses a sturdy chrome-plated front middle net design, and is decorated with rivets, with the "HAVAL" letter logo embedded in the middle, which is very eye-catching. The outside of the headlights on both sides is square in outline, while the inside is equipped with round LED daily lights, the overall shape is very rough and bold, and the hard cross-country attributes are full.

On the side of the body, the new car continues the non-load-bearing body, the waistline runs through the whole body, and the large wheel arch design also enhances the sense of strength of the vehicle. In addition, the new car also uses a square outer rearview mirror, a conventional door handle and a 19-inch rim design to further enhance the sense of movement of the vehicle. In terms of body color, the new car will provide four color options: lime, Chunshan Green, Wadang Black and Smoky White. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 5070 (1960) / 1976/1930mm, and the wheelbase is 2850mm. Compared with the current model, the new car is longer in size. For comparison, the length, width and height of the current Harvard H9 are 5077/1926/1900mm and the wheelbase is 2800mm.

In the rear part, the new car taillights are longitudinally arranged and composed of two rectangles, which are highly recognizable in visual effect, equipped with the common external spare tire and side open rear door of hard off-road vehicles, and the license plate frame is located on the left side of the rear enclosure. the rear bumper is thick and sturdy, and the overall shape fits well with the body shape of the square box.

In the interior part, the layout of the new car is not much different from that of the cash model, but the details are optimized and the whole is more scientific and technological. The new car is equipped with a newly styled steering wheel and a 14.6-inch suspended central control screen. The position of the sub-dashboard is the same as the shift lever of the tank 300 and the Harvard Raptor, and there are physical buttons and knobs around it to facilitate cross-country operation.

On the power side, the new car provides 2.0T+8AT gasoline power and 2.4T+9AT diesel power. Among them, the gasoline version of the maximum power of 165 kilowatts, peak torque 385 Nm, matching 8-gear automatic transmission; diesel version of the maximum power of 137 kilowatts, peak torque 480 Nm, matching 9-gear automatic transmission.

The Harvard H9 is Harvard's first seven-seat medium-sized and large SUV. It launched three models in November 2014, with a price range of 22.98 yuan to 272800 yuan, powered by a 2.0T turbocharged direct injection engine and a ZF 8-speed manual gearbox. In June 2015, the Harvard H9 five-seat model went on sale at a price of 21.98-262800 yuan. Since then, the Harvard H9 has undergone several changes, making appearance adjustments in 2017, 2020 and 2022 respectively, but no replacement has been carried out. It is understood that the Harvard H9 is currently on sale for 2022 models, the price range is 21.48-279800 yuan, the power is equipped with 2.0T engine + 8AT gearbox, the maximum power is 185kw, the maximum torque is 385N ·m.

As a medium and large hard SUV model of Great Wall with a price of 200000 yuan, the early Harvard H9 once became the ceiling of its own brand SUV market with a more people-friendly price. However, since Great Wall launched the tank 300, tank 500 and other models, the status of the Harvard H9 has also been threatened.

Retail data show that Harvard H9 sales from 2020 to 2022 were 17345, 11498 and 12444, respectively, making it a good performer in the car market. But sales of the Harvard H9 began to decline in 2023, falling to 5792 in 2023, compared with 2323 from January to July this year, with monthly sales of less than 400. The reason for the decline in sales is also related to the fact that more and more independent brands begin to lay out "hard off-road" market segments and achieve electrification, resulting in intensified market competition.

The new car is the replacement of the Harvard H9, as a new replacement model, whether the new car can return to the highlight moment after the launch is still unknown, but it is certain that the new Harvard H9 will also face fierce competitive pressure.
