On Aug. 30, three auto companies announced recalls, including Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd., Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd., and Chrysler (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd.

According to the requirements of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products, Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration. Since October 8, 2024, a total of 870 imported Model X electric vehicles were recalled during the period from March 16 to July 31, 2016. It is understood that this recall is another recall of "Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. recalled some imported Model X electric vehicles" issued on November 27th, 2020.

The notice shows that some vehicles within the recall area use adhesive to install the roof front trim panel and the middle trim panel to the top of the vehicle, and a primer is required to increase the adhesion between the two. Due to the lack of bottom coating on the surface of the decorative panel, with the passage of time, the adhesion of the decorative panel may be weakened, and in extreme cases, the decorative panel may fall off from the vehicle, resulting in safety risks. To this end, Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will inspect the recalled vehicles free of charge and re-test the tension of the roof trim panel. if the test fails, the roof trim panel will be replaced and reinstalled with a primer to eliminate safety risks. Tesla reminded that before the vehicle recall and repair, the owner should drive the vehicle carefully and contact the service center for maintenance as soon as the recall begins.

In addition to Tesla, Chrysler is also recalling previous models again. According to the announcement, Chrysler (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration and decided to expand the recall from September 16, 2016 to July 13, 2017 to produce a total of 70 imported Grand Cherokees equipped with 3.0-liter diesel engines. It is understood that this recall is an expanded recall of the "Chrysler (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. Recall of some imported Grand Cherokee cars" issued on September 13, 2021.

According to the announcement, for the vehicles within the scope of this recall, the magnetic signal material may be separated from the main body of the engine crankshaft pulse wheel, and the magnetic material attached to the engine crankshaft pulse wheel is used to provide signals to the crankshaft position sensor. If the signal material is missing, the engine will lose the ability to synchronize the injector pulse and cam timing, which will lead to engine flameout and failure to restart the engine, and the loss of power while the vehicle is driving may lead to unwarned collisions, and there are security risks. To this end, Chrysler (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. will replace the crankshaft pulley for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

Another car company that announced the recall is Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. from now on, it recalls some imported GLB SUV vehicles from October 18, 2023 to November 13, 2023, a total of 11 vehicles, because some vehicles due to the rear axle brake hose is not arranged as required, may cause brake hose contact wear and tear with adjacent parts, resulting in brake fluid leakage and brake efficiency reduction. There are security risks. In view of the above defects, Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. will, through Mercedes-Benz authorized dealers, inspect and correct the rear axle brake hose arrangement for vehicles within the recall range free of charge, and if there is wear, replace the brake hose to eliminate safety risks.
