At the 2024 Chengdu Auto Show, Tuyue Xinrui, a brand new model of SAIC-Volkswagen, was officially launched. It is understood that the new car is a new entry-level model of the Tuyue family, with a larger size and a smaller size than Tuyue. It is positioned as an entry-level compact SUV model with 1.5T engine and 1.5L naturally aspirated engine on power. In terms of appearance, the new car is obviously different from SAIC-Volkswagen cash models, using Volkswagen's latest family design language, and provides black package version and chrome-plated version of the design style.

Specifically, the difference in the appearance of the front face of the new car lies in the internal design of the lower surrounding grille. Among them, the black bag version of the model uses smoked black horizontal banner decoration, with a cool black sports kit, including exterior rearview mirror, side window edge trim, roof luggage and other details for blackening, with more overall emphasis on sports and avant-garde flavor; the chrome-plated version of the model carries on chromium plating on the intake grille, focusing more on classic and stable style.

In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car is 4355/1762/1605mm, and the wheelbase is 2651mm, positioning the new SUV model. As a reference, the length, width and height of Tuyue are 4458/1841/1632mm and the wheelbase is 2680mm. By contrast, the size of the new car is smaller than that of Tuyue.

In the rear part, the new car adopts through-type taillight group design and fumigation treatment. At the same time, the new car also incorporates silver ornaments and red reflective strips into the rear bumper, with the letter "XR" on the right side of the tail mark to indicate its identity. In terms of exhaust, the new car uses a hidden exhaust layout, the overall matching does not lose the sense of movement.

In the interior part, the new car is equipped with suspended central control screen, Volkswagen family-style multi-function steering wheel and liquid crystal dashboard, and the center console channel area retains some physical function keys and mechanical shift lever without losing the sense of science and technology.

In terms of power, the new car offers a choice of 1.5T engines and 1.5 liter naturally aspirated engines. Among them, the 1.5T engine has a maximum power of 118kW and a maximum torque of 250Nm, the transmission system matches the DQ200 7-speed double clutch transmission, and the 1.5L naturally aspirated engine has a maximum power of 81kW and a maximum torque of 141Nm, and the transmission system matches the Aixin 6-speed automatic transmission.

From the perspective of the positioning and price of the new car, Tuyue Xinrui will form the Tuyue family with Tuyue after listing, helping Tuyue to seize more markets. As a joint venture brand classic compact SUV model, the new car will also face fierce market competition, including Guangzhou Automobile Honda Coli Chi (price range 11.99-139900 yuan), Dongfeng Honda HR-V (price range 11.39-182900 yuan), Changan Mazda CX-30 (price range 9.99-199900 yuan) and other models are potential competitors.

It is understood that Tuyue is a compact SUV model owned by SAIC-Volkswagen. In August 2018, SAIC-Volkswagen announced that the Tharu was named Tuyue in Chinese at the Chengdu Auto Show, and went on sale with the new generation Passat in October of the same year. Among them, Tuyue launched a total of 6 models with a price range of 16.98-229800 yuan at that time, with 1.4T and 2.0T engine options on the power. the maximum power of 1.4T was 110kW. Maximum torque 250Nm The maximum power of 2.0T is 137kW and the maximum torque is 320Nm. Both engines match the 7-speed double clutch transmission.

In March 2023, Tuyue mid-term revamped models were launched, with a total of 5 models, with a price range of 15.86-216600 yuan. As a medium-term modified model, the car has made great changes in appearance and interior, providing 1.5T and 2.0T power options, of which 1.5T engine is the latest power system of Volkswagen, replacing the 1.4T engine of the old Tuyue.

Tuyue has done well in the car market, with retail figures showing that it sold 99600 vehicles in 2023 and 46000 from January to July this year, ranking eighth among Volkswagen products. Judging from the price of the new car, Tuyue Xinrui has a lower price, which may further help SAIC-Volkswagen seize more share in the compact SUV market.
