With effect from 27 November 2024, a total of 241861 imported Class A, B, CLA and GLA vehicles with production dates from 30 August 2011 to 3 April 2019 and 281233 domestic GLA vehicles with production dates from 13 March 2014 to 12 October 2019 have been recalled.

The reason for the recall is that part of the vehicles within the scope of the recall due to insufficient moistureproof performance of the shell material of the wheel speed sensor, when the vehicle is used in hot and humid environment for a long time, the wheel speed sensor may fail, resulting in the shutdown of some functions of the electronic body stabilization system (such as ESP, ABS, etc.), resulting in safety risks. In view of the above defects, Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd., Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. will check the wheel speed sensor for vehicles within the recall range free of charge through Mercedes-Benz authorized dealers. if it belongs to a specific part number, it will be replaced to eliminate safety risks.

Judging from the number of this recall, the number of recalls is not small, with a cumulative recall of 523094 vehicles, including imported A-Class, B-Class, CLA, GLA and domestic GLA vehicles, of which 281233 GLA vehicles are recalled, but the recall years are relatively long, all of which are produced between 2011 and 2019. It should be noted that the recall was carried out in the context of the defect investigation initiated by the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration.

It is understood that Mercedes-Benz GLA is an entry-level SUV model launched by Beijing Mercedes-Benz, which was made in China in 2015 and currently sells for 29.99-346900 yuan. Retail data show that the top three Mercedes-Benz models sold in the first eight months of this year were Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, with cumulative sales of 112200, 98300 and 86800, respectively, while Mercedes-Benz GLA sold 5576, with monthly sales of about 700.

The recall is Mercedes-Benz's second recall this month. On September 14, due to the manufacturing deviation of the rear beam traction ring connection bushing of some vehicles, the traction ring may not be fully screwed into the rear beam traction ring connection hole. When the rear traction device is used for traction operation, it is not ruled out that the connection is loose and there are safety risks. Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. recalled from October 25, 2024, recall some domestic C-class cars produced between September 5, 2023 and November 11, 2023, totaling 8622.

As a German luxury brand, Mercedes-Benz has launched many recalls since 2024. As of press time, Mercedes-Benz has launched 14 recalls, totaling 1327143 vehicles, according to the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration. Defective product recall is a common international practice for product safety supervision, and so is automotive product recall. The recall of domestic automobile products began in March 2004 and has been implemented for nearly 20 years.
