On Sept. 26, SAIC GM Buick brand issued a statement saying: recently, we have received reports from users that we are unable to buy a new generation of Buick Ankoway PIus with a "golden autumn time limit" of 169900 yuan. Buick brand hereby declares that "from 169900 yuan" is a naked car price that consumers can buy, and that the "golden autumn time limit price" campaign does not attach or set other additional conditions for car purchase.

Buick said that consumers who could not buy the Ankoway PuS at a Buick brand authorized dealer at a "golden autumn time limit" could complain through the Buick customer service hotline. Once verified, the Buick brand will be dealt with seriously and effectively safeguard the interests of every consumer.

On September 24th, SAIC GM Buick official announced that its Buick Anke Plus launched a time-limited price, which can enjoy a replacement subsidy of up to 25000 yuan (the state trade-in subsidy of 15000 yuan + brand replacement subsidy of up to 10000 yuan). The preferential prices are 169900 yuan, 179900 yuan and 199900 yuan respectively, compared with the guiding price range launched in June this year (22.99-259900 yuan). The price of the corresponding model has been reduced by 60,000 yuan.

The Ankewei series used to be the best-selling models of the SAIC GM Buick brand, including the Ankewei Plus and the Ankewei S, but in recent years, with the rapid growth of the new energy vehicle market, the overall demand for fuel vehicles has declined, and the market space for traditional fuel vehicles such as the Ankewei has been further compressed. Combined with sales data, the Anke Wei family sold 2765 vehicles in August 2024, ranking 29th in the medium-sized SUV. Although the Anke Wei Plus's price reduction strategy is indeed sincere enough, it seems to have come a little late. after all, the price war has lasted for half a year, and price reduction measures are taken at this time, the effect may be limited.

Buick is SAIC GM's main sales brand, with 12 models currently on sale, but most of them are mediocre. In August, the Buick brand sold a total of 19938 new cars, of which the highest selling model was the GL8 PHEV, which was 4234, followed by the GL8, which sold 3689, and the third was the Micro Blue 6 pure electric, which sold 2962. Regal and Weilang, which once sold more than 10,000 a month, are now hovering around 1000.

With the rapid rise of independent car companies on the one hand and rising penetration of the new energy market on the other, SAIC GM is facing a similar dilemma for most joint venture car companies. Of course, SAIC GM is also actively laying out under the surging wave of electrification. According to the plan unveiled by SAIC GM at this year's Beijing Auto Show, 10 new energy vehicles are expected to be launched from 2024 to 2025 to clear dealer inventory and repair and upgrade the sales network before the new cars arrive on the market. is a complex but critical terminal strategy.

From the perspective of the automobile market as a whole, the market share of joint venture brands also continues to shrink. According to the latest statistics of the Federation of passengers, in August, the domestic retail market of independent brands was 1.2 million, with a domestic share of 63% in that month; the retail share of mainstream joint venture brands was 480000, down 27% from the same period last year, and the domestic share was 25% in the same month. Among them, the retail share of German brands was 16.6%, Japanese brands 12.6%, and American brands 5.7%. Luxury car retail sales of 220000 vehicles, down 21% from the same period last year, increased by 3% month-on-month, with a market share of 11.5% in the same month.
