By the end of September, Changan Automobile had sold a total of 1.905 million vehicles this year, up 1.89 per cent from the same period last year. Among them, independent brand sales of 1.5845 million, independent passenger car sales of 1.1609 million, independent brand new energy for 44800.
Changan Automobile is the core vehicle enterprise of China Changan Automobile Group Co., Ltd., and it is also a well-known domestic vehicle manufacturing enterprise. it has brands such as Changan Qiyuan, Deep Blue, Avita, Changan Gravity, Changan Kaicheng, Changan Ford, Changan Mazda, Jiangling and so on. First, let's take a look at the sales of the joint venture brand. Sales of Changan Ford and Changan Mazda both declined in September. Among them, Changan Ford sold 24200 vehicles, down 5.76% from the same period last year; Changan Mazda sold 6010 vehicles, down 41.90% from the same period last year, making it the brand with the highest decline under Changan Automobile.
As one of the earliest automobile brands to enter the Chinese market, Mazda has been deeply cultivated in the Chinese market for 32 years, but the performance of Mazda in the domestic market has become more and more weak. At present, the models sold in Changan Mazda include Mazda 3 Uncella, Mazda CX-5, Mazda CX-50, Mazda CX-4 and so on. Taking the retail sales in the first eight months of this year as an example, Changan Mazda sold a total of 45403 vehicles, of which the highest-selling model was the Mazda 3 Encela, accounting for 46.09% of the total sales, followed by the Mazda CX-5, which accounted for 18666. The Mazda CX-50 line and the Mazda CX-30 were 5114 and 694 respectively.
However, the decline of the Changan joint venture brand has had little impact on it, with Changan Ford and Changan Mazda accounting for only 14.18% of Changan's total sales in September. Of course, nowadays, "joint venture brands are declining and independent brands are catching up head on" has become the truest portrayal of China's auto market, which also reveals the awkward position of joint venture brands in the domestic market.
Compared with the joint venture brand, the independent brand has become the responsibility of Changan automobile sales. Up to now, the new energy brands operated by Changan Automobile have formed the layout of three major electric brands: deep Blue Automobile, Avita and Changan Qiyuan, among which Deep Blue Automobile focuses on add-on models, Avita focuses on high-end pure electricity market, and Qiyuan brand focuses on digital intelligence. According to the data, deep blue car sales in September were 22700, up 30.74% from the same period last year; the cumulative sales during the year were 143400; although the market performance of Avita was not as good as that of deep blue, it grew by 47.61% year-on-year in September, with sales of 4537 vehicles, with cumulative sales of 40900 vehicles this year; Changan Qiyuan had 11600 vehicles, with cumulative sales of 109900 vehicles this year.
Like most traditional car companies, fuel vehicles are still the base for Changan to maintain sales. In September, independent brand new energy sales were 54400, accounting for 25.51% of the total sales, accounting for a small share. From a long-term point of view, the main focus of Changan Automobile in the future is still on the independent passenger car sector. at the same time, it must rely on independent brands and new energy vehicles to achieve rapid growth. After all, as new energy vehicles gradually replace fuel vehicles, there will not be many opportunities for mainstream joint ventures based on fuel vehicles to stay on the poker table in the future.
According to the plan, Changan Automobile will stop selling fuel vehicles next year, which means that Changan Automobile electrification transformation time is running out. Combined with September sales, Changan Automobile's new energy sales mainly rely on Deep Blue Automobile and Qiyuan Automobile, while the delivery volume of Avita Automobile is not as expected by the market.
It is understood that the goal of Changan Automobile in 2024 is to strive to achieve production and sales of more than 2.65 million vehicles, an increase of only 100000 vehicles over 2023. By comparison, Changan car sales in 2023 were 2.553 million, up 8.8 per cent from a year earlier. In addition, the sales target of Changan New Energy this year is 750000 vehicles, of which Changan Qiyuan, Deep Blue Automobile and Avita have annual targets of 250000, 280000 and 90, 000 respectively. Judging from the cumulative sales in the first nine months of this year, it is still difficult for the three brands to achieve their goals.
However, since entering the second half of the year, Changan Automobile has begun to step up its efforts in the new energy vehicle market, launching a number of new and modified models such as the fourth generation Changan CS75 PLUS, Avita 07, Qiyuan E07, Deep Blue S05, Deep Blue L07 and so on. Among them, the fourth generation Changan CS75 PLUS launched a total of two models at a price of 121900 yuan and 129900 yuan as replacement models. The car carries out a comprehensive upgrade for appearance, interior decoration and power. Avita's new medium-sized SUV Avita 07 went on sale on September 26, launching a total of six models with a price range of 21.99 yuan to 289900 yuan. In addition, Qiyuan E07 also started pre-sale on September 22, with a pre-price of 24.99 yuan to 319900 yuan.
At present, the competition in the new energy era has just begun, and Changan Automobile still needs to make more changes in the future to face the ever-changing automobile market.
