Only one car company declined! September sales list of new energy manufacturers announced

Retail sales in the domestic passenger car market were 2.109 million in September 2024, up 4.5 per cent from a year earlier and 10.6 per cent month-on-month, according to the Federation of passengers. Of these, the retail sales of new energy passenger cars were 1.123 million, up 50.9% from the same period last year, 9.6% from the previous month, and the domestic retail penetration rate was 53.3%, exceeding 50% for the third consecutive month of the year.

Judging from the retail sales list of new energy manufacturers in September, the top 10 car companies in the list are BYD Automobile, Geely Automobile, SAIC GM Wuling, Tesla China, ideal Automobile, Chang'an Automobile, Chery Automobile, Cyrus Automobile, Guangzhou Auto Eian, and zero-running cars. Among them, GAC Ean is the only car company that has seen a year-on-year decline, down 35.1% from the same period last year, while the rest of the models have increased to varying degrees, and the highest increase is still Sellis, up 434.2% from the same period last year.

As a new energy brand owned by GAC GROUP, GAC Ean has begun to decline since 2024, with cumulative sales of 260000 vehicles in the first nine months of this year, down 27.3 per cent from a year earlier, compared with 33100 in September, down 35.1 per cent from a year earlier. Among the subdivided models, AION Y had the highest sales in September, with 14600 vehicles, followed by AION S with 11000, while AION V and AION LX had only 5724 and 33 respectively. In other words, AION Y and AION S are the main sales force of GAC.

As for the reasons for the decline in GAC's Aian sales, the industry believes that it is related to the saturation of the ride-hailing market and the lack of its own products. With the intensive listing of more new cars, consumers' choices are more diversified, and market competition is further intensified. therefore, it may only be a matter of time before they can continue to improve their product strength and brand image in terms of product power and brand image, whether it is GAC Ean or any other car company.

Looking back on the list, BYD topped the list with sales of 386700 vehicles in September, and was the only car company on the list that sold more than 300000 vehicles, leading a group of independent and joint venture brands, up 50.1 percent from a year earlier, with a cumulative sales volume of 2.4666 million vehicles this year, an increase of 30.9 percent year-on-year, with a market share of 34.6 percent.

In third place was SAIC GM Wuling, with sales of 73000 vehicles, up 81.0% from a year earlier, while cumulative sales in the previous September were 389700, up 35.6% from a year earlier. Tesla China followed closely with 72200 vehicles, an increase of 66.0% over the same period last year, of which Model Y was 48000, accounting for 66.76% of Tesla's total sales in China, with 24000.

Geely ranked second in the list with sales of 89500 vehicles, an increase of 82.2% over the same period last year. Changan Automobile and Chery Automobile ranked sixth and seventh respectively, with sales of 53200 and 43700 respectively, up 31.5% and 237.7% over the same period last year. Chery's increase is second only to Selis.

Ideal car is the only car company on the list in the Wei Xiaoli camp, with sales of 53700 vehicles in September, up 48.9% from a year earlier, and cumulative sales of 341800 vehicles this year, up 40.0% from a year earlier. As a reference, Xiaopeng and Xilai sold 21400 and 21200 cars respectively in September. In September, the second-tier new power brand zero running cars also entered the list, with sales of 32400 vehicles, up 104.9 percent from the same period last year, ranking 10th on the list, while Naha cars missed the list, with 10100 cars, down 23.41 percent from the same period last year.

Generally speaking, the sales performance of most car companies in September was quite eye-catching, thanks to the "gold, nine and silver ten" of the traditional car sales season, as well as government subsidies and a number of preferential policies for car companies.
