BYD officials also quickly responded to Great Wall's statement: "We firmly oppose any form of unfair competition and reserve the right of legal action!" BYD believes that the test report of the Great Wall is invalid and cannot be used as a basis. Its products and related tests meet national standards and have been certified by national authorities. BYD said, "as the first company in the world to launch plug-in products, it has more than 20 years of accumulation and iteration in plug-in technology, which is not as simple as some peers think. I hope everyone will do more things that are beneficial to the industry and Chinese brands."

In Wei Jianjun's view, this is no small matter, no less than the Volkswagen "emission gate" scandal. Wei Jianjun believes that the problem of high-pressure fuel tank is not only related to the technical strength and product quality of enterprises, but also directly affects the image and reputation of China's automobile industry in the international market. According to the interface news report, the high-pressure fuel tank is about 1000 yuan more expensive than the atmospheric fuel tank, and BYD gave the reason as a "technical cost reduction". According to the patent information submitted by BYD, it applied for an oil and gas management system in March 2021, and it installed a liquid supply device outside the fuel tank to provide a cooling medium. When fuel steam is produced in the fuel tank, the cooling medium can cool the fuel steam in a timely manner and make it fall back into the fuel tank after liquefaction, so as to avoid the increase of fuel tank pressure caused by the increase of fuel steam and achieve the purpose of cost saving.

In other words, BYD's use of atmospheric fuel tanks for mixed models can save costs, but since it meets emission standards and reduces costs, why did BYD replace atmospheric fuel tanks with high-pressure fuel tanks after being reported by Great Wall Motor? whether it is a technical cost reduction or Jerry-building is already a bottom line issue related to the development of the automobile industry.
