On October 26th, Changan Mazda's new new energy car, Mazda EZ-6, was officially launched, with a total of seven models, offering two kinds of power options: add-program hybrid and pure electric power, of which the price of added-program hybrid is 10,000 yuan and that of pure electric is 10,000 yuan. It is understood that Changan Mazda EZ-6 is a new energy car jointly developed by Mazda and Changan Automobile, which is based on Changan EPA platform.

In terms of appearance, the Mazda EZ-6 still uses the classic family design language, and the first impression is still the design full of Mazda flavor. The large-size front grille remains the same but has a more sense of technology. There is a certain difference in appearance between the pure electric model and the hybrid model, in which the front grille of the pure electric model is closed, and the front grille of the extended model is conventional air intake modeling. However, the interior of both grille presents a lattice style, the front enclosure of the vehicle combines the black panel with the front grille, there are vertical ventilation openings on both sides, and the bottom is the heat dissipation hole design with active grille function. The headlight group adopts a split design, the main light source is hidden under the daily lights, and the light belt around the front grille, with feather-shaped light sources on both sides, jointly forms a LED lamp group called "wings of light", and the Mazda logo in the middle also has a luminous function.

Because it is based on the Changan EPA platform, the dark blue SL03 can be seen on the side of the Mazda EZ-6, but it also integrates the design elements of Mazda. The overall shape of the new car shows a sliding back sedan running style, and the smooth waistline creates a diving effect. The front and rear wing panels are designed to be slightly wider than the car body, and the lower edges of the doors and windows are decorated with chrome. Equipped with hidden door handles and larger rims, it shows some movement. In the rear part, while the new car adopts the current popular through-water grille headlights, the through-type taillights add four circular barrel lights on both sides to fully reflect the characteristics of Mazda, and the taillights and the built-in deformable electric tail wings complement each other. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4921/1890/1485mm and the wheelbase is 2895mm.

In terms of interior decoration, the Mazda EZ-6 is equipped with a suspended 14.6in central control screen and a dark blue SL03 LCD instrument, and the double-spoke multi-function steering wheel uses touch buttons for more scientific and technological simplicity in design. At the same time, the interior of the basic version of the car uses a large number of leather packages, while the high-end models use a large number of leather / turned fur splicing materials, which appropriately enhance the sense of luxury. In terms of configuration, the car will also be equipped with 14 speakers, Sony sound system, color atmosphere lights, front zero gravity seats, 13 scene mode switches and panoramic skylights in the cockpit.

In terms of power, the Mazda EZ-6 offers both extended range and pure electricity, which is rare in the joint venture market and gives consumers more choices. The extended range model is equipped with 1.5L range extender, maximum power 70kW, motor power 160kW, capacity of 18.99kwh and 28.4kwh lithium iron phosphate battery, pure electric mileage of 105km and 160km respectively, fuel tank 45L, 100 km energy consumption 3.6L, and its fuel economy is also excellent. The pure electric model is equipped with a single motor, maximum power 190kW, lithium iron phosphate battery with capacity of 56.1kWh and 68.8kWh, pure electric mileage of 480km and 600km respectively, supports 3C fast charging, and 30% of 80% of the battery can be charged for as fast as 15 minutes, which alleviates everyone's anxiety about driving to a great extent.

As one of the Japanese carmakers, Toyota, Honda and Nissan are having a harder time in China, while the niche Mazda is even harder. According to FIFA data, the Mazda brand sold 51413 vehicles in China in the first three quarters of 2024, including Mazda 3, CX-30, CX-50 and CX-5, of which 22856 were Mazda 3 Oncella and 21763 were Mazda CX-5, while the Mazda CX-50 launched after the merger of North and South Malaysia sold only 5650 vehicles.

Mazda EZ-6 is jointly developed by Mazda and Changan Automobile, which combines the leading strength in the field of electrification and intelligence of Changan Automobile, as well as Mazda's profound attainments in the field of design, control and safety, and the birth of a car with full performance-to-price ratio is also a kind of development idea. However, it is also unknown whether consumers will be willing to pay in the future.

As a joint venture medium-sized new energy car offering plug-in hybrid and pure electric, the main competitor of Mazda EZ-6 in the pure electric market is domestic new energy, including BYD Seal 07, Dongfeng e π 007, Zero C01, Nezha S, etc., but most of the above models are medium and large cars, which have advantages in space, but the price is similar to that of Mazda EZ-6. Of course, Toyota bZ3 (169800-199800 yuan) and Volkswagen ID.7 VIZZION (227777-262777 yuan) are also competitors. In the add-on hybrid market, the current joint venture brand extended range medium-sized cars basically have no layout.
