AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)11/15 Report--

On November 15, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration issued a recall announcement. According to the announcement, Porsche (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products. Since November 15, 2024, a total of 15906 Taycan series electric vehicles manufactured from January 7, 2020 to December 15, 2023 will be recalled.

The reason for the recall is that in some vehicles within the scope of this recall, there may be a short circuit inside the high-voltage power battery module, which in extreme cases may lead to thermal runaway of the battery module and the risk of fire. In view of the above defects, Porsche (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. will entrust an authorized dealer to carry out a temporary recall from November 15, 2024 to test the high-voltage power batteries of vehicles within the recall scope, if there are any abnormalities, then replace the battery module free of charge. Starting from the first quarter of 2025, a final recall will be implemented to install on-board diagnostic software for vehicles covered by the recall, which will detect potential problems with the battery module, warn the driver before the risk occurs, and replace abnormal battery modules. Prior to the implementation of the recall, it is recommended that users limit the amount of charge to 80%.

It should be noted that this recall is an expanded recall of the "Porsche (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. Recall some imported Taycan series electric vehicles" issued on May 11, 2024. Porsche (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. recalled a total of 1590 imported Taycan series electric vehicles made between January 7, 2020 and December 15, 2023, according to the announcement at that time.

It is understood that the Taycan is Porsche's first pure electric model, which went on sale in September 2019 and peaked in 2021. Data show that from 2020 to 2023, Porsche Taycan global sales were 20015 vehicles, 41296 vehicles, 34801 vehicles, 40629 vehicles. In the first half of this year, there were less than 10,000 vehicles, down 51% from the same period last year. Currently on sale, the Taycan is a new model, which went on sale on the eve of the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, covering two body forms, the sports sedan and the Cross Turismo, with a current selling price of RMB89.80-1.998 million.

On the same day, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration issued another Porsche recall announcement. It is decided that a total of 68 911 and 718 series cars produced from November 8, 2023 to September 4, 2024 will be recalled from December 23, 2024.

The reason for the recall is that in some vehicles within the scope of this recall, the central locking fastening device of the wheel may be damaged, resulting in the loss of wheels and the decline of steering control performance, increasing the risk of accidents and safety risks. In view of the above defects, Porsche (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. will entrust an authorized dealer to inspect the wheel central locking fastening device and, if necessary, replace substandard parts to eliminate safety risks.
