AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)11/23 Report--

On November 22, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued the latest recall announcement. The announcement shows that Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the "Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recall" and the "Implementation Measures for the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recall." It has been decided to recall from now on some 2017-2019 imported Beetle series vehicles produced between July 6, 2016 and September 15, 2018, totaling 16202 vehicles.

The reason for the recall is that the driver's frontal airbags of the vehicles within the scope of this recall are equipped with desiccant ammonium nitrate gas generators produced by Takata Company. After the vehicle has been used for a long time, if the driver's frontal airbag is triggered to deploy in a collision accident, the inflator may be abnormally damaged, causing debris to fly out and injuring people in the vehicle, posing a safety hazard. In response to the above defects, Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd. will entrust authorized dealers to replace the improved driver's frontal airbags for vehicles within the recalled scope for free to eliminate safety hazards.

It is understood that the Beetle is Volkswagen's first model and one of Volkswagen's classic models with a long history. The history of the Beetle model can be traced back to the 1930s, when famous car designer Ferdinand Porsche decided to design the model in Germany, but it was not until after World War II that it entered full production. The official name of the Beetle is Volkswagen Model 1 and is positioned as a compact sedan. Because the car looks like the Beetle, Volkswagen officially named the car "Beetle" in 1968.

The first Beetle was born in Germany in 1938. Many years after the first Beetle was rolled off the production line, in 1998, Volkswagen used Volkswagen Golf as a platform to launch a new Beetle with a very similar appearance, while the Beetle was in Mexico and a few other countries. Production until 2003. In February 1972, the 15007034th Beetle was shipped, one more than the Ford Model T. As a result, it won the honor of the global production and sales champion. By 1982, the cumulative sales had exceeded 20 million vehicles. But as Beetle sales continued to decline, Volkswagen decided to stop production of Beetle. In July 2019, the last "Beetle" left the production line at the Mexican factory and officially announced that it was discontinued, becoming a historical model.
