Domestic passenger car sales fell 4% in January from a year earlier, 19% in February due to the early Spring Festival, 12.1% in March and 16.9% to 1.508 million in April. So far, the cumulative sales of domestic passenger cars from January to April reached 6.595 million, down 11.9 percent from the same period last year, or nearly 900000.

As economic growth slows and consumer demand for cars continues to decline, the domestic auto market has been declining for nearly a year, with automakers under pressure and showing no sign of easing. Therefore, it is an inevitable fact that the sales volume of automobile manufacturers has generally declined, but some of them have gone against the trend and formed a contrast with the big market.

The ranking of automobile manufacturers changed greatly in April, with North and South Volkswagen still occupying one or two places with a greater advantage, Shanghai automobile enterprises fell sharply, and Japanese manufacturers generally bucked the trend. Sales of luxury brands Beijing Mercedes-Benz and brilliance BMW still had double-digit growth compared with the same period last year, three independent brands stuck to it, and Changan Automobile finally fell out of the top 15 rankings.

North and South Volkswagen's strong position is still its unique advantage, affected by the market environment, the two companies declined to varying degrees in April, but still accounted for 19% of China's market share with a combined sales of 286000 vehicles. FAW-Volkswagen sold 146000 vehicles in April, down 8.4 per cent from a year earlier, while SAIC-Volkswagen sold 140600 vehicles, down 12.6 per cent from a year earlier.

SAIC GM was once a rival to North and South Volkswagen, but fell as much as 40 per cent in April to fifth, overtaken by Dongfeng Nissan and Geely successively. SAIC GM's terminal price reduction has always been relatively large, but it does not work under the declining market trend. GM officials said the company would further cut production at its factories in China in the second quarter to solve inventory problems. 'China 's auto market is very volatile,'he said.

Geely Motor, Great Wall Motor and SAIC passenger cars are the three auto companies with their own brands on the list. Geely Automobile fell 23.7% in April, leading many joint ventures with a large sales base and still ranked fourth. Great Wall is one of the few independent car companies to maintain proportional growth, and its sales have stabilized, which is related to the continued offensive of new cars and increased price cuts in the end market. Changan Automobile, which sold millions in the past, fell off the list again.

Japanese brands and first-tier luxury brands to achieve counter-trend growth is the biggest bright spot of the car market.

The sales figures of Japanese car companies in April are generally encouraging, occupying the fourth place in the top 10. Dongfeng Nissan rose to third place for the first time with sales data of nearly 100000 vehicles; Guangzhou Auto Honda rose 23.8 per cent year-on-year to 65800 vehicles, rising to sixth place; FAW Toyota ranked eighth, up 9.1 per cent to 63000 vehicles; Dongfeng Honda and Guangzhou Automobile Toyota both increased by about 25 per cent.

The growth of Japanese car companies in varying degrees has formed a huge contrast in the general decline in the mainstream joint venture brands.

In addition, the luxury car market continues to grow, with Beijing Mercedes-Benz's April sales up 14.4 per cent year-on-year to 47600 and brilliance BMW up 25.8 per cent.

The positions of FAW-Volkswagen, SAIC-Volkswagen and SAIC-GM remained unchanged in the previous April sales statistics, but SAIC-GM's 22% decline was dangerous.

Geely ranked fourth with 443000 vehicles in the previous April, less than 30, 000 vehicles behind SAIC GM in third place.

The total number of independent brands of China Great Wall this year is 300000; Changan, which "disappeared" in April, still ranked eighth with 253000, but the continued sharp decline is a very dangerous sign for Changan.

With the exception of Dongfeng Nissan, where sales fell 1.2 per cent in the first four months and FAW Toyota fell slightly, the other three Japanese carmakers all grew, with Dongfeng Honda and Guangzhou Auto Toyota all growing by more than 20 per cent.

In addition, Beijing Hyundai, which represents Korean cars, has relatively stable sales, with 237000 vehicles still on the list of the top 10 car companies from January to April.

The car companies that have wantonly expanded during the period of China's automobile blowout development have become dumb in the cold spell in the car market. on the contrary, Japanese car companies keep stable or continue to grow by a large margin with their unique advantages.

With sales falling for 11 months in a row, automakers are counting on the Chinese government to introduce tax cuts, slowing license plate restrictions and other policies to help the market rebound, and this new increase in stimulating car consumption is expected to be introduced by the end of the year.
