AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/13 Report--

The protection of the rights of the female owner of the Xi'an Mercedes-Benz oil spill in April has become a major event of national concern, and Mercedes-Benz has also become the target of attack by many netizens, so what impact will it have on the sales of the German luxury car maker in the Chinese market?

The incident not only exposed the attitude of the Mercedes-Benz brand and authorized 4S stores in dealing with the problem, but also uncovered some potential charges in the car sales industry. As to whether the vehicle oil leakage is a quality problem, the female owner said that the test report and evidence provided by Mercedes-Benz confirmed that it was not a faulty car or a problem car.

There is no quality problem, and the sales volume does not have much impact.

Global sales of the Mercedes-Benz brand reached 181936 in April, down 5.5 per cent from a year earlier, and cumulative global sales in the first four months were 742809, down 5.6 per cent from the same period last year, according to April sales figures released on Daimler's website. Among them, the Chinese market continued to achieve sales growth in April and the previous April.

From a regional perspective, Mercedes-Benz sales in Europe fell 4.8 per cent year-on-year to 71263 vehicles in April, while Germany's home market also fell 4.8 per cent to 24970 vehicles. Mercedes-Benz sales in North America fell 16.9 per cent in April from a year earlier, including a 15.7 per cent decline in the US market.

It is worth noting that Mercedes-Benz recorded a 1.4 per cent decline in the Asia-Pacific region in April, while sales in China grew by 0.8 per cent to 57707 vehicles, setting a new high for Mercedes-Benz brands in China over the same period. China remains Mercedes-Benz's largest single market in the world. By the end of April, Mercedes-Benz had sold 232050 vehicles in China, up 2.2 per cent from a year earlier.

As for Mercedes-Benz domestic cars, Beijing Mercedes-Benz sold 47600 vehicles in April, up 14.4% from a year earlier, according to data from the Federation of passengers. The total number of Mercedes-Benz cars in the first four months was 186300, up 15.8% from a year earlier.

To a certain extent, the Mercedes-Benz oil spill incident and the subsequent frequent revelations that the direction of the new car was out of control did not have much impact on Mercedes-Benz sales.

In fact, car sales in China have been declining for many months in a row, while luxury cars are growing against the market. By contrast, Audi's Chinese market fell 11.5% to 46000 vehicles in April, meaning Mercedes-Benz continued to take the top spot in the Chinese market with 57700 vehicles in April.

Many people will wonder that the human rights incident has become so serious that sales have increased rather than decreased, which may explain some problems to some extent.
