AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/14 Report--
The type64 belongs to the pioneering class of Porsche in its history. In 1936, Mr. Ferdinand Porsche developed the first type64 model, which was used to participate in the rally from Rome to Berlin. A total of three models have been made, but due to the flames of World War II, there are only two left in the world.
The type64 model reported for auction today was bought by Austrian racing driver Otto Mathé in the late 1940s, when he used it to compete in a variety of local races. Decades later, in 1997, it was acquired by another Austrian Porsche expert, Thomas Thomas Gruber, who used it in old-fashioned racing events such as Goodwood and Austria's Old Ennstal Classic.
The model uses a horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1000CC, thanks to excellent aerodynamic design and lightweight body. The car can reach 160km at top speed.
The current owner is the fourth owner of the car in its 80-year career. The car is in complete condition and its price has not been announced. According to experts at Sotheby's auction house, the price of the model will reach $3, 000 to $40 million. The car will be auctioned during the Monterey car auction week in August.
