AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)05/14 Report--
Volkswagen announced that it plans to recycle 1200 tons of electric car batteries and about 3000 used batteries from cars next year.
With the development of new energy electric vehicles, in order to travel more economically and environmentally friendly, more and more people are willing to buy new energy electric vehicles. However, with the growth trend of electric vehicles, the number of batteries will increase. Even for high-quality batteries, the service life will gradually decrease over time, generally 10-15 years, and need to be replaced after reaching the end of service life.
Volkswagen had planned that its component plant in Salzkett would become Volkswagen's first recycling point for new energy vehicle batteries. Next year, Volkswagen plans to recycle 3000 of the used batteries of vehicles, about 1200 tons of new energy vehicle batteries.
The main reason for the recycling program is to reduce costs, because the battery in the electric car is one of the most expensive parts in the car. The materials needed to make batteries are all rare metals, and the cost of mining ore will be high, so digging from waste batteries can reduce the cost.
And the way of recycling is more environmentally friendly. The recycled waste electromagnetism is mainly used for remote charging and household power storage.
Volkswagen will recycle waste batteries, will first choose a special grinder, will grind the electromagnetic, extract valuable materials such as cobalt, lithium, manganese and nickel, and then make new batteries. By doing so, 53% recycling can be achieved.
