GM's two joint ventures in China fell the most in April and the new car market continued to contract as domestic economic growth slowed and domestic consumers' desire to buy fell.

Shanghai General Motors, which is headquartered in Shanghai and owns Cadillac, Buick, Chevrolet and Wuling commercial vehicles, fell 27% to 125504 vehicles in April, according to SAIC.

SAIC GM Wuling, headquartered in Liuzhou, Guangxi, is a starter for the assembly and distribution of Baojun and Wuling light trucks.

As of April, SAIC GM sales fell 17 per cent to 552432 vehicles, while SAIC GM Wuling delivery fell 27 per cent to 534712 vehicles.

GM will launch and replace nearly 20 products in China this year, compared with 15 previously planned. The Detroit-based carmaker will launch new products this year, including a new generation of LaCrosse models, a new generation of extended Ankora and Buick Velite 5 plug-in hybrid cars, and Baojun entry-level cross-border hiking model RS5 covers the entire product line of sedans and SUV.
