Renault may face a French court lawsuit over emissions fraud, the European Automotive News reported on May 13. A technical report confirmed that pollution emissions from some Renault diesel models were higher than official test data and were purely fraudulent.

Earlier, after Volkswagen admitted that some inefficient devices had been installed in engine software to reduce emissions, in 2015, French Environmental Minister Royal urged the establishment of a technical committee to investigate French car companies. it was found that some models of Opel, Renault and Fiat Chrysler emitted more than 10 times more nitrogen oxides than the regulations. And all of them use some equipment to reduce or turn off the tail gas treatment.

A spokesman for Renault said it was not possible to respond to the report for the time being because there were no results of the investigation report. And said that "Renault is not equipped with inefficient devices, and in line with the current regulations."

But French researchers have confirmed that the engine software of Renault's Cliio and Captur models will turn off some emissions outside the official test temperature range. And there is also an anti-pollution technology, which will only be cleaned at a speed of more than 50 kilometers. If it is not cleaned regularly, the filter will fail.
